Yeah, but then you'd have to live in Texas and deal with 10x the bullshit you have to deal with in other states.

[–] FediMan@lemmy.ml -5 points 1 year ago

It's probably an ideal campaign to promote to youngsters. Although the risk is that the plan could backfire if they get indoctrinated in conservative ideology.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

This means moving to Texas though. Which is a huge freaking ask.

[–] Pratai@lemmy.ca 10 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Not on your life would I leave Seattle for anywhere in Texas.

[–] lolcatnip@reddthat.com 3 points 1 year ago

Same, plus I grew up in Texas so I know what it's like from personal experience. It was kind of OK when I left, but the Republicans have been really ratcheting up the bullshit lately, and the summers were way too hot even before climate change became noticeable.

[–] pizza-bagel@kbin.social 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah I like having basic human rights. It's a big ask to even ask anyone to stay there, let alone move there. It's literally life and death for women who can't get an abortion.

[–] idkwhatimdoing@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Has someone done the math on how many people would have to move there to outnumber the current GOP base there?

[–] Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Zero. Texas has enough registered Dems to turn it blue tomorrow. More registered Dems than republicans. https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/religious-landscape-study/state/texas/party-affiliation/

Texans are just lazy fucks that don’t vote. Especially the youth. 18-29 turnout in the 2020 primary was 7% of eligible population. When you could vote literally anywhere in your county, including the damn grocery store.

Letting Texas back into the Union after the civil war was the biggest mistake of the US. Worthless state.

[–] snooggums@kbin.social 8 points 1 year ago

Or, and hear me out, voter suppression.

If Texas seceded from the Union tomorrow, it would be ranked in the top ten largest economies in the world, according to worldatlas.com, according to USAToday, according to the official Treasury Department, according to Wikipedia.

So if you truly believe they were worthless I would say you sound incredibly fucking dumb and hateful almost like a belligerent Q-Anon/MAGA retard.

[–] Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And how would they rank when you take away the federal funding they get for the plethora of government contracts there? Or when oil has gone the way of the dodo.

Saudi Arabia has a huge fossil fuel economy too and they’re fucking less than worthless.

Texas is a blight on the US and the rest of us would be better without them. I don’t give a single fuck about Texas.

[–] BaroqueInMind@kbin.social -1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It would still be ranked top ten.

Saudis are industrious and produce more than just oil, and you are starting to sound racist.

Texas can suck my micropenis. That being said, you can take your racist generalizations and hateful shit the fuck out of here. The state is full of many good people there too.

[–] FullOfBallooons@leminal.space 6 points 1 year ago

Move to Texas?! I'm working as hard as I can to leave!

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Have the dems done a study on splitting Texas into multiple states? When Texas joined the union, they reserved the right to split into five states. Could the lines be drawn to create at least three blue states?

[–] kool_newt@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

I've heard of unopposed races and races decided by a handful of votes. I think this strategy applied wisely could work, if not in Texas maybe some other places.

Need a site to highlight houses for sale in districts that are flippable. Not every house will have equal chances of doing that.
