And I'm sure the investigation will reveal no foul play.

Ok, I'll do it...
He's alive and well and this is a bit of theatre agreed upon between Putler and him to save face in all directions.*

*This is a conspiracy theory and not at all based on facts, don't quote me or take it too seriously

A plane crash can make it easier to claim an alive man is dead as there may not be a body.

I could see this as a means to keep Wagner troops loyalties in check, or just to keep everyone guessing. The most likely scenario though is that Putin did what Putin does which is assassination.

[–] heartlessevil@lemmy.one 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The body doesn't magically disappear. Although it is probably in many, many pieces, this can be confirmed through DNA testing on small samples.

[–] Mangosniper@feddit.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

DNA testing that Russian investigators will do in Russia. And as we all know, they are trustworthy as fuck

[–] heartlessevil@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

Wouldn't they want to do that to show off their work? Or I guess not so they can distance themselves from it and pretend it never happened.

I think its equally likely he was shot down/plane sabotaged, this is fake face saving thing, or the plane crashed due to shoddy mechanics. Whatever the case, the uncertainty works out in Putin's favour.

And if this is a fake-out, he will blend in easily. He is clearly a master of disguise.

[–] Rozauhtuno@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Oh, he didn't just "accidentally" fall from a window like usual? They upped the budget.

[–] megopie@beehaw.org 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No, the plane just accidentally flew in to an air defense missile that was inexplicably hovering at 10,000 meters.

[–] FaeDrifter@midwest.social 3 points 1 year ago

Man I hate running into air defense missiles, it's such a downer

[–] Ertebolle@kbin.social 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Feels like Putin's lost a step, this should have been a much more interesting / inexplicable death; crushed by a herd of elephants or some such.

[–] DrWeevilJammer@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

crushed by a herd of elephants

OG Hannibal style

Different then exiting a window I suppose

[–] pelotron@midwest.social 20 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I think the plane fell out a window

[–] jet@hackertalks.com 7 points 1 year ago

The window was really high up, and they all fell down.. checks out. Natural causes

[–] Che_Donkey@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Hy Progie...take a look at the view from here 👌

[–] Blizzard@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 year ago

He could have exited a window on the plane.

[–] Sicktatties@discuss.online 11 points 1 year ago

Oh no! Anyway…

[–] newtraditionalists@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

I mean, that's great! But what happens to his army of degenerate war criminals? They just unite under some other scumbag? Hopefully, he was arrogant enough to leave behind no indication of what to do in an event like this, and they succumb to infighting. We can dream, I suppose.

Edit: spelling

[–] jmcs@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 1 year ago

Utkin would be a strong candidate but he also got a bad case of airplane crash.

[–] 2ndtryagain@beehaw.org 5 points 1 year ago

They are all headed to Africa to cause more trouble and try and get their own little fiefdoms. At some point the US, EU or NATO is going to have to go in and fuck them up.

[–] Uniquitous@lemmy.one 9 points 1 year ago

Surprised it took this long, honestly.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Bbc : "presumed dead"

Lemmy: "he dead!"

Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin was on the passenger list of a jet which crashed killing all on board, Russia's civil aviation authority has said.

Earlier, Wagner-linked Telegram channel Grey Zone reported the Embraer aircraft was shot down by air defences in the Tver region, north of Moscow.

The jet, which was flying from the capital to St Petersburg, was carrying seven passengers and three crew.

They probably don't mind losing the crew and Piggy might have been the target (assuming this was intentional) but who else got disappeared along with him?

[–] Raincloud@beehaw.org 3 points 1 year ago

The founder of Wagner, Dmitry "Wagner" Utkin, was also on board.

[–] abbadon420@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Yeah I don't think those were some random farmers who shared a private plane with the boss of Wagner

[–] DeForrest_McCoy@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

This is ONLY the 677th time I've seen this posted in the last two days....Can someone do me a favor and post it 349 more times just so we've all seen it more than a couple of times.

Thanks.

[–] sculd@beehaw.org 2 points 1 year ago

And nobody is surprised...
