I know its got better metadata privacy than matrix but good luck getting normies to use it when getting them on matrix is already like pulling teeth without having to explain shit like protocol extensions.

I honestly think improvements to Matrix are probably the answer at this point.

Whether or not you like who's been putting money into it, its what has more of a future at this point. Unless you count industrial messaging or some shit.

I actually host xmpp and matrix, I prefer xmpp, but most of my friends already have matrix, so I'm not going to shove xmpp down their throats.

Both are neat I just don't think you're going to get the average Joe on xmpp nearly as easily as Matrix. That in and of itself is probably the protocols biggest selling point.

I prefer xmpp too, but it looks like she was too good for this world.
