It's a theoretical argument anyways. Right now the Russians have zero interest in a ceasefire as they are consolidating their territorial gains in the east.

Depends. Russia is very close to reaching their publicly stated objective of liberating the Donbass.

Which is the same as I wrote? It will take them most likely a few more weeks to consolidate and then there might be an window of opportunity for a ceasefire, but who knows. But definitely not right now.

If Russia gets what they publicly stated, then they might be more willing to reach a ceasefire.

To end this conflict, there has to be a "honourable exit" for both parties involved.

The sooner Ukraine starts to negotiate in earnest the better off they will be. It's really that simple.
