Eating dogs is as disgusting as eating cows, pigs and chickens.

Yeah, that's what I don't understand. I don't really see any moral distinction between eating dogs/cats/horses vs pigs/cows/chickens. It seems like the only logically consistent positions are to ban it all or allow it all; picking and choosing doesn't make much sense.

100% agree. A dog is no smarter or more "special" than a pig.

Its the vacinity of relationships people perceive. Same reason why in Rain World your main source of food as the player is something that is hard to identify with (a batfly). People are more offended by others eating dogs because most people perceive them as closer to us than other animals. It isn't true in the slightest, but I hope this brought some understanding. Its all perception and misunderstanding. We eat living beings when other living beings literally make things made to eat (fruits). Its a mutually beneficial trade, they get their seeds spread and we get a lil' treat.
