For me its probably got to be Game of Thrones (although the ending was so anticlimactic)

Drama: Mad Men

Comedy: Monty Python's Flying Circus

Animation: Rick & Morty

Educational: Connections (1970s, with James Burke as host)

Miniseries: tossup between True Detective Season One and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (BBC, 1979, with Alec Guinness)

True Detective Season One was groundbreaking. I bought the score, and I don't buy movie or TV scores.

Was it ground breaking? It's just two dudes bad mouthing each other for 20 minutes and a basic detective plot ever 30 minutes. There was no effort to make anything original. Mindhunter is much better despite lacking direction.

With its' bleak philosophical and metaphysical concerns, True Detective S1 felt to me very much like Tarkovsky and/or Bergman exquisitely done for television.

Oh my god, I loved Connections! It really was a great show.
