For the small tabs, you may try to enable custom stylesheet (userChrome), there are plenty of themes on the web, but if you're looking for something more specific you may edit it yourself, it's very easy. Oh and the default start page is pretty ugly I agree, there are plenty of alternative start pages on the add-on store For the data collection, firefox forks like librewolf should have that disabled by default (I don't have any experience tho)

For me:

  • this opinion is different from mine, but I respect it: ignore
  • this opinion is different from mine, and I do not respect it (e.g.: racism): downvote
  • this opinion is spreading misinformation: downvote
  • this comment is an insult to someone, regardless on whether it was "deserved" or not (e.g.: "this is a stupid question"): downvote
  • this comment is breaking community rules: downvotes

thanks for the answer! I'd like to disable it because if sometimes some website interface fucks things up, I can check if it's my fault or not, so visiting the site in private mode without my css would quickly show me who's fault

my userContent.css file is a bunch of

@-moz-document domain("example.com"){
  body {
    color: red !important;
  }
}

for each website I customized. however, this applies both to normal and private browsing, and I'd like it to apply only to normal browsing

Hello! I'm trying to realize some CSS customizations for some websites (Lemmy, Whatsapp, Startpage) in the style of the breeze theme (dark). I'd like to make it more universal by considering the accent color. and now my question... how do I obtain all the nice colors derived from the accent color, like for instance the highlight color of Dolphin files? there are many different shades of the accent color, but I don't know how to obtain it programmatically from css

sorry if it's a stuipid question but I'm taking the first steps in the CSS language.

thanks in advance!

Hello! My first Lemmy account was on lemmy.one, but I later changed to lemmy.world because lemmy.one disabled downvotes. I've used lemmy.world much more than lemmy.one now, but whenever I type in my address bar le it autocomplete it with lemmy.one. how can I change this behavior making it suggest lemmy.world instead of lemmy.one? I'd rather not remove all lemmy.one entries from my history...

thanks in advance!

Hello! I have changed a few websites appearance with the userContent.css, but I'd like this to only apply to normal browsing, and not to private browsing. the UserChrome instead I'd like to be applied for both normal and private browsing. Is this possible? searching the web didn't give me any useful result... thanks in advance!

Hello fellow Lemmings! the first version of the haiku-bot is out! anyone can add or remove it in any community by simply mentioning him and asking to subscribe:
!Haiku-bot SUBSCRIBE
when added to a community, it will read every comment (not posts currently) and if he detects the 5-7-5 syllable pattern typical of haikus will reply formatting it in a nice way! If it becomes too spammy you can remove it by just commenting:
!haiku-bot UNSUBSCRIBE
currently it can be subscribed and unsubscribed by anyone, but if this will result in a problem please let me know and I'll allow only mods to do this! any problem, bug, suggestion, insult, anything you wish is welcome!

hope you'll enjoy it!

Let's say I'm visiting lemmy.ml/post/1234, and I'd like to view the same post but under lemmy.world. is there a pattern or something I can do to do this?

Hello! I'm trying to ping some lemmy instances to understand which one is the faster, so I'm just using the ping command:

$ ping lemmy.ml
PING lemmy.ml (54.36.178.108) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from lemmy.ml (54.36.178.108): icmp_seq=1 ttl=49 time=24.4 ms

ping lemmy.world
PING lemmy.world (135.181.143.230) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from static.230.143.181.135.clients.your-server.de (135.181.143.230): icmp_seq=1 ttl=52 time=58.2 ms

but if I try with certain instances:

ping vlemmy.net
PING vlemmy.net (109.78.160.70) 56(84) bytes of data.

it just hangs there, forever. if I try to ctrl+C it, it displays

^C
***
vlemmy.net ping statistics
***
13 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 12267ms

why does this happens? I can perfectly visit vlemmy.net from my browser so I really can't understand whay is this happening

I read that they "defederated"... What does this mean? And why did they do this? And what are the consequences?

Hello! I was wondering, since KDE connect allows to syncronize the clipboard, where potentially there can be passwords or similar, is it secure?
