Mate. That's not the obnoxious part. Posts like this are the obnoxious part.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 17 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

But not initiating a thread by going out of your way to insult a swath of people. That's not being obnoxious. It's replying to it with anything but meek deference that's obnoxious. Just let everyone know ahead of time that you're the main character and we need to treat you special, okay? Can't fault us if we don't know, right?

  1. I love Mate, yerba mate.

  2. France.

  3. I gave you the benefit of the doubt. I don't see you being "obnoxious" about the racist and ableist users in your home instance. So we could say that you have less acceptance of the inclusive and open to discussion (in goof faith) instance users, than the hate lovers users of yours. Of course, I don't want to generalize. I saw a bunch of cool users in here

Anyways,

Hey, Hexbear users? Can y'all send in a better representative to do damage control?

I really want to like y'all, but damn.

[–] Bakzik@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Still no opinion on your fellow ableist and racist users?

I challenge you to find one of those in our instance.

spoilerche-smile

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I had no opinion on hexbear coming into this thread. Now I'd be absolutely fine with hexbear being defederated.

Holy shit are y'all just the most annoying group of self righteous sea lions.

[–] somename@hexbear.net 22 points 1 year ago (3 children)

What is it you hate about Hexbear specifically?

[–] Abraxiel@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)
[–] somename@hexbear.net 7 points 1 year ago

Me asking you a question is what you hate?

[–] Gelamzer@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago

[–] yuri@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

god sure do love that you can clutter the comments with this garbage. i really wonder why people wanna get you losers out of their communities...

[–] MonkCanatella@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

dude's trolling. There's no way tankies use that image, that is one of the most cringe things i've ever seen in my life

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sh.itjust.works 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

Have you browsed Hexbear? This ain't trolling. It's very much genuine.

If it is trolling, then it's just an entire instance posting an inside joke and then pointing and laughing at the people not in-the-know who don't "get it."

It's not clever.

[–] sharedburdens@hexbear.net 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Not liking ablism and racism is an in-joke?

This is why ya'll can get fucked, I'm tired of seeing this garbage in my feed.

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Yeah, mate. That's the in-joke I'm referring to. [sarcasm tone indicator, cuz some of y'all need it]

A reasonable person can infer that's not where my issues stem from.

All this tells me is that Hexbear folks get their jollies from trying to provoke people with weird stretches.

"You don't like some of our users?? Wow, you're pro-rascism and ablelist!"

It's not cute.

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago

[sarcasm tone indicator, cuz some of y'all need it]

Yeah! Fuck people who need tone indicators, we shouldn't be inclusive to those people

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You present needing tone indicators as a negative. Why is that?

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You present needing tone indicators as a negative.

I understand that this is bait and definitely not good-faith, but I'll bite anyway.

Because I know that a lot of Lemmy users are ND, and, being ND myself, I wanted to emphasize the need for my tone to be understood by everyone.

Didn't realize it could even be viewed as a "negative" until you said something.

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hey thank you for your response!
It was indeed bait, because I thought you saw being ND as a negative, from the way you phrases your statement. I am glad to hear it was me that misunderstood you.
I've just seen a few too many use it as a way to demean others.

I cannot see externally hosted images, as this feature has been removed due to issues with CSAM attacks

[–] SharkEatingBreakfast@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Also: the fact that Hexbear users are making a point to go tone-policing after calling anyone who makes even the slightest criticism against them "racist" and "ableist" should tip y'all off that Hexbear is almost purely a troll instance.

[–] AntiOutsideAktion@hexbear.net 12 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Racist: "FUCK YOU I'M NOT RACIST THAT'S AN ATTACK AGAINST ME"

Non Racist: "Oh shit, I'm sorry. What did I say and why was it wrong?"

[–] Egon@hexbear.net 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Plenty of criticism is handled without pointing out racist language, because that criticism does not contain racist language.
Bigotry is boiled into a large amount of our day-to-day verbage, and sometimes we become blind to it. Adding the suffix -tard to words for example has become common, but it is still tied to hurtful and demeaning language.
Suggesting someone "sucks a dick" is a common insult, but the insult here is the implication that the other person engages in sexual relations with a man, which is presented as a negative. While we do not think of this in the moment, that is still the root of the insult.
Such language is not tolerated on hexbear, and as a result users have gotten very perceptive of it. Could they be nicer at pointing it out? Certainly, at times it's a fair mistake to make, and at times - such as here - they're much too quick on the draw. However I think the context should be remembered, which is that Hexbear has had to deal with a wealth of wreckers, and as such a lot of users assume that a person that is hostile, negative and also uses language that could be perceived as bigoted and that language is used in a manner to insult (or what can be perceived as something meant to be an insult) then they end up assuming the worst at times. This is most certainly something that Hexbear users could do better at.
But being frustrated at having it pointed out is silly, just as it is silly to continue using that language after having pointed out it's problematic aspects.

This stuff is pointed out regardless of a user agreeing or disagreeing with another user - it is in fact unrelated to it.

I sadly cannot see externally hosted images, but I assume it was some example refuting my claim. If it was of my own response to you: As I've already said, at times people are too quick on the jump, and this was one of them, for which I apologize. But you must be able to see how your post could be interpreted as needing to use tone indicators as something negative, right? Had we agreed I would have asked you the same question

[–] Portosian@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Don't apologize while still trying to insist you were right all along.

[–] Bakzik@hexbear.net 3 points 1 year ago

[sarcasm tone indicator, cuz some of y'all need it]

You know what it's not cute? Discrimination. In this case, your ableism.

We call out the ableism and racism of some users of this instance. That's the real reason of your "obnoxious" feeling, regarding the Hexbear users. Our zero tolerance to hate.

Scrath a liberal, and a fascist/racist bleeds.

[–] awwwyissss@lemm.ee -1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Good, fuck off back to your own fork, authoritarian.

[–] mycorrhiza@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I think it's authoritarian for America to constantly coup and bomb other countries, back business-friendly puppet governments that sell off national resources for pennies, and provide military assistance to 73% of the world's dictatorships, and I think it's weird that most American liberal politicians, journalists, and media personalities go along with it. I guess it makes sense when you look at who funds them.

I remember during the attempted coup in Venezuela, even John Oliver, Stephen Colbert, and AOC supported it. No one ever seemed to mention or care about the US sanctions crippling the Venezuelan economy. It was always Venezuelan incompetence, never American economic warfare or coordinated capitalist hoarding, that kept food off the shelves, if you listened to American television.

[–] MonkCanatella@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 year ago

Lol what an absolute clusterfuck.
