Like others said, TikTok is a good counter to the silicon valley tech monopoly. Any country that stands up to the US sees a campaign of information warfare utilizing the western media. So when these countries block or limit access to western media, they are called totalitarian.

But with TikTok, it was seen as a threat that they talked about banning it in the US, which is just hypocritical. Banning RT was also considered. The truth is America is just as "authoritarian" as those other countries. The difference is, America hasn't had a foreign media that potentially threatens its interests until now.

So I like TikTok as long as I don't have to use it myself. And I dont like seeing that style of content is popping up on YouTube and Instagram as well now.
