It's worth noting that, on Lemmy, you may end up dealing with a broader potential audience base than Reddit. This puts a bit more of the onus of content control on the user, as admins won't always see everything, and reporting gets a bit more case-by-case.
But instances can also block other instances, so if there's a cesspool server of pedos and terfs, if the instance so chooses, they can blackhole them.
(Not to cisplain fediverse or anything)
There really needs to be a way for users to block instances the same way they can block users and communities. It would ease up some of the calls for defederating (not all).
