An unreleased Atari 2600 prototype has been found on a backup tape from Atari's Coin-Op Division. The game, titled 'Fish', is now available for anyone to play and explore.

The filename of the game is simply listed as Fish. Little is known about who programmed it or how it ended up on a VAX system. The only available information is that the potential build date was December 22nd, 1983, although this could also be when the game was copied onto the backup system.

In terms of gameplay, 'Fish' is surprisingly simple. Players take control of a small fish and must eat various creatures on-screen to progress through different waves. However, bigger fish will often appear to try to swallow you. The challenge lies in eating as much while avoiding being devoured.

David Lynch, the filmmaker celebrated for his uniquely dark vision in such movies as “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive” and the TV series “Twin Peaks,” has died just days before his 79th birthday.

BRIER: Can I say one quick thing? My last Section 8 tenant just moved, and that family was in this unit for nine years. And I'm very happy that we were able to provide them with nice housing for all that time. But I swear, when that family moved out, I could hear the angels singing. I have another tenant I've had for over 20 years. The piece of paper that we have with our rental agreement is one side of one page. And for the Section 8 family that we housed, I have boxes and boxes and boxes of papers. It was insane. So, you know, maybe the reason that you can't find a Section 8 house, which I wish you could, is because the system makes it too hard for somebody like me to give it to you.

Nancy, there is literally nothing stopping you from giving this injured homeless worker a place besides your own self interest.

Of course, American society will eat you alive if you don't relentlessly pursue your self interest almost all of the time and all of us are just one illness and a few years of bad luck from being where Luis is at, but let's just be honest about what the situation is here.

BRIER: If I could wave the magic wand, I would want the government to make renting housing less risky for small-time landlords. How can we provide housing that isn't crazy expensive?

And If I could wave a magic wand the government would take all of Nancy's non-residential properties from her and just start running them as free public housing with onsite social workers and maintenance technicians.

Also, they'd provide taxpayer funded nutrition support and education for anyone who wants it, including Nancy.

I recently got into Insane Clown Posse and, as a result, into Juggalo culture. Since acceptance, respect, and support are such important ideals among Juggalos, I was wondering:

Are Juggalos, therefore, allies of the LGBTQ+ community?

Since I live in Germany and have yet to meet someone who even likes ICP in my country, I have basically zero contact with Juggalos. So, everything I know comes from what I've read online, and I was wondering how this translates into real life.

Advancements in AI and biometrics by the People’s Republic of China (PRC) pose significant risks to global security, particularly to the United States and Western nations, according to an unclassified report from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).

The nearly 200-page DOD report to Congress, Military and Security Developments Involving the People’s Republic of China, details how the PRC’s strategic integration of AI and biometric technologies into national security, military modernization, and global influence operations threatens U.S. and Western security.

The report warns that “PRC leaders … power to shape world events continues to grow, presenting ‘new strategic opportunities’ to create an environment favorable for PRC interests and national rejuvenation.” The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) defines “the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation” as a state in which the PRC is “prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful.”

National rejuvenation, however, DOD emphases, “requires the PRC to ‘take an active part in leading the reform of the global governance system’ since many rules and norms were established, in the PRC’s view, during a time of PRC weakness and without the PRC’s consultation and input.”

The PRC views AI as being pivotal to its future warfare capabilities and global influence. According to DOD, “The PRC aims to overtake the West in AI R&D by 2025 to become the world leader in AI by 2030. The PRC has designated AI as a priority, national-level S&T development area and assesses that advances in AI and autonomy are central to ‘intelligentized warfare,’ the PRC’s concept of future warfare.”

This strategy includes leveraging AI to enhance cyber operations, such as reconnaissance, deepfake generation, misinformation campaigns, and state-sponsored hacking to acquire a waterfront of sensitive information, including personal data that it can use to blackmail and coerce targeted individuals. DOD says, “the PRC presents a significant, persistent cyber-enabled espionage and attack threat.” Conversely, DOD says the CCP Party Congress has “stressed the CCP’s need to prevent digital penetration, sabotage, subversion, and separatism activities from external actors.”

Under its Military-Civil Fusion initiative, the PRC seeks to integrate civilian and military innovation ecosystems to develop cutting-edge AI-enabled military capabilities. DOD says, “Beijing views the integration of military and civilian institutions as central for developing AI-enabled military capabilities and has established military-civilian R&D centers and procured commercially developed AI … to ensure PLA access to cutting-edge AI technologies.”
