A circuit breaker could prematurely cut off all requests to a service, even if only one shard was failing.

They only circuit break retries ?

If a single node is down, then it should not receive traffic via k8s or whatever you use to route based on liveness probe.

Why does your software need to retry anyways? I prefer not implementing live retries, stuff breaks sometimes. Tasks will retry themselves.

You can circuit break the connection to other services so that you stop contacting them if they are down. Giving them some breathing room.

The Wikipedia implem looks simple and good enough to me: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circuit_breaker_design_pattern

The fact they're mixing metric and imperial in the same formula puts me in a state of confused rage.

Indie labels still allow ugly people on stage!

Pop / major label's job is more on the money side than the music. We don't see ugly people in adverts either.

So 89% of children have a 3% risk of catching measles if exposed, that's 30 children given the article numbers, out of 1100 total children.

I believe this is called a risk, given you can't know which children the vaccine won't work.

Debian distros are named after Toy Story characters.

Sid is a kid who breaks all the toys.

Sid is Debian's unstable branch :D

And then you also have to get the correct stress on the syllables which are also unguessable. Ask for a banana instead of a banaaaaaaaana and people won't understand.
