We are a lo g way from good cycling infrastructure here. There are a few well connected suburbs but most places its dangerous to be cycling on the roads because of the yank tanks

Ethernet is used last mile all the time. Fibre is just the medium. Wide area networks use many protocols, ethernet is very common. See MAN for some more context.

I don't think it's free. There are plenty of places in the cbd if you're willing to pay

Seems this attack is becoming more common place. Used to just be the occasional tractor or digger damaging fibre but now it's seems to be intentional.
