The forums of old times still exist in some corners of the internet. They used to be big and there was one for pretty much every topic.

But most died over the years or got replaced by services like Facebook groups, Reddit or Discord.

Are you still using proper forums, which ones and why haven't you made the switch to other forms of communication?

Get out of here with your reasonable suggestions for real life problems.

Instead the state should raise taxes on poor people and give the money to the oil companies, cause freedom or something.

I advise you to seek help.

There is none I grew up with, so I can't name a favorite either. Neither did we own the platforms most of the games released on. I only ever got into Star Trek later in life.

That's irregular. Have it checked by a medical professional and get a second or third opinion if you already were at the doctor.

There is cases where the underlying reason can not be discovered. Those are usually harmless. Pretty much all cases where an underlying reason can be determined can be tested for and for almost all of them should get you medical treatment. They reach from not good to serious danger to your health.

This game was it's year's sleeper hit for me. It really is good, despite the story being a bit cheesy at times.

I actually didn't think about it much, because I block all ads. But consumerism can be fun, I wouldn't mind ads if I had a say in which I see.

Weird how neolibs are proponents of the free market all the time, but at the same time insist on shoving crap we don't want down our throats. I like your suggestion.

I am with you on that one. I am also disappointed by the BBC.

As the service grows, I have noticed more and more people and bots popping up, only posting links to a news article and that's that. Usually there is no post, no summary and nothing from the OP but the link.

What do you all think about this?

Do you think it's a good thing, because it is providing content? Do you maybe find it annyoing and if so, why?

I myself am happy when people take the time out of their say to try to provide content, but for me it's a bit low effort a lot of the times. Bots I tend to block immediately and people it they make it hard for me to reader other posts between all their link-posting.

But I am more curious how you all think about this and whether you consider it good or bad.

Could anyone explain to my why some people are trying so incredible hard to turn lemmy/kbin into Reddit 2.0?

Reddit wasn't exactly great before this migration wave, it hasn't been an interesting place in quite some time and I sincerely doubt it will get better in the future.

In my opinion most content on there is pretty much trash in a variety of flavors. That and doomscrolling. Sure there is niche subs and I get that losing them to might suck, but everyone managed before we had those and everyone will manage now. There is always the option to remake them somewhere else when Reddit decides to kill them, be it by removing modding tools, drowning the content in ads or what ever malicious shit might happen.

In most cases a massive number of users has been detrimental to the quality of subs. I don't really see the benefit trying to get as many people to switch as possible. In fact I think there is an argument to be made for smaller communities.

There is also a tendency to argue that people shouldn't use Reddit. People also drink till they black out and shouldn't do that either. Or drive their cars over the speed limit. Or pronounce "gif" with a "j". Why not let everyone do what they want, why does this have to be a binary choice or a choice at all?

Maybe a few people just feel like this is some kind of battle that has to be won. It isn't. Reddit will try to make as much money as possible at any cost, it is how most companies operate in capitalistim. You don't have to like it. As a matter of fact I'd respect you more if you didn't. But it is nothing you will fix by trying to "convert" people to Lemmy like you are a Jehovah's Witness of discussion platforms.

Or maybe you are mad at spez. Good, he is an ass. Maybe other people will realize that and take it as a reason to use Reddit less or not at all. Maybe they won't. You don't exactly have agency when it comes to their decision.

So what exactly is it that is driving you? Do people have friends over there they want to bring over here? Do you miss the endless meme subs and can't survive without them?

I clearly don't get it and would very much appreciate some comments, so I might be able to understand your motivation better.

I feel like a good chunk of multiplayer games these days are either extremely toxic by design or don't put a whole lot of emphasize on actually playing together.

It kinda feels like a lot of games more or less turn you into a less stupid bot for others to play with and there is not so much space for social interaction anymore.

Do you know any games that still invite you to get to know new people?
