If he actually was an "Upstanding Businessman", they actually might. Need more reasons why they don't?

Well, I wonder how much they report on Trump being unable to get that bond until Monday...

I had it worse. I needed to book a hotel for a business trip, and they offered me two prices: Either take them cheaper, but you cannot cancel or get a refund, or you can spend a bit more, and cancel it up to one day before arrival for a "cancellation fee", which amount was not disclosed at that moment.

I booked the latter one, and in the booking confirmation it said that the cancellation fee is exactly the same as the cost for the room!

As long as Ukrainian drones concentrate on tanks that are moving to the front, the danger of hitting decoys is low.

Reminds me of a story from WW2: The Germans had built an airfield with lots of planes - from wood, as a decoy. One day, a single allied bomber appeared and dropped one bomb in the middle of the airfield. The "bomb" was made of wood, too.

Im Sinne des Tages:

Warum sind die meisten Gleichstellungsbeauftragen weiblich?

...

Die sind billiger.

I don't think mandatory voting is a good solution. This is mostly practices in autocratic/dictatorial states, and would have a bad taste to it.

What should be done is to either make voting day a public holiday (with mandatory "half day off" rule for anyone who would still have to work in retail or services), or just move it to a Sunday, like many other countries have done ages ago.

Sometimes you learn things before, and sometime by doing them. This was the latter case.

Brave guy.

The problem in the US is not the "barefoot" thing. It's the walking. For many people, someone strange walking in their area is a prime suspect, so this guy better avoids any "stand your ground" states in order not to get shot for walking suspiciously.

That depends on what level you want to achieve. Some plasma blob with a membrane around it that is able to just replicate in a perfectly controlled and balanced nutrient solution is one thing is probably not easy, but the lowest level that needs to be achieved to claim this term.

If you want something that you can drop into a petri dish with some agar-agar and real, competing bacteria, and be able to survive and thrive, well, that is a completely different level.

Are you saying parking is gambling in Amsterdam?

No, but our family of four went on a visit to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, and the by far most expensive part of the trip were neither the museum tickets nor the restaurant bill, but the parking: about €16 per hour.
