Bearings for rolling stock are actually relatively hard to come by, and there are only a few countries that even produce the two different steel alloys they are made from.

Ten companies in the world manufacture 75% of the bearings used in rail. With like 5 of them being located in Japan, and the rest in the US, Germany, and I believe Sweden. China only produces about 20% of bearings used in rail, but they are pretty much all for domestic use, as they are still expanding their network.

Hell hath no fury like a competitive nerd being put on a pedestal.

I think this happens a lot anytime someone who perceives themselves as being shunned by society gets too much positive feedback and an iota of power over people.

I think its the same reason why every nerdy twitch streamer ends up being outed as an abusive child predator.

Lol, my dude. She is an American citizen who donated to an American NGO while in America. It's not a crime, as the actions were legal in the jurisdiction of the state where it happened.

Russia is just creating a legal farce that is not concurrent with international law, or their own legal code. According to your own argument your claims are just a pile of internal contradictions.

since you're probably one of the slaves, you won't understand that

Lol, you sound like a teenager who just got their first paycheck. "Whats income tax........? This is Slavery!"

First of all, ball bearings aren't like artillery shells that are single use items either. It's not like you need a constant stream of them.

Lol, bearings are one of the largest consumables in railway maintenance. You quite literally do need to have a constant supply, trains go through bearings faster than any other industrial implementation.

Second, I don't think cheaply really plays a factor in this scenario.

Resources don't matter in a country at war?

Meanwhile, I'm not sure what you premise the idea that Russia doesn't already have ball bearing manufacturing domestically. USSR certainly did, and Russia inherited most of the industrial infrastructure.

Infrastructure doesn't just preserve itself, industrial equipment gets sold off or parted out all the time. That's the equivalent of saying America uses to produce all of its own steel, so they should still be able to do so now a days.

Plus, there's a huge difference in modern bearing production compared to when the USSR was a industrial powerhouse. Modern bearings last a lot longer, and require less maintenance. That's because they are made of M50 alloy steel or Fe-1C-1.5Cr alloy steel, which are also not domestically produced in Russia.

there's also China with plenty of ball bearing manufacturing being done domestically https://www.fitrunbearing.com/blog/top-10-bearing-manufacturers-in-china/

Yes, China does produce around 20% of the ball bearings used in trains today. However, those are for their own domestic market and they don't really export them due to the ever expanding rail network they are creating.

Large roller bearings are actually pretty difficult to produce cheaply and reliably at large scales. I don't really see this as being unbelievable considering 75% of all bearings used in rail are produced by 10 companies in Japan, the US, Germany, and Sweden.

Creating a production line completely in house and at a scale that would be sufficient to supply one of the largest rail networks in the world be a Herculean task for just about any country.

Tbf, the Bush presidency was led by his cabinet throughout the majority of his presidency. Bush spent nearly 400 days on vacation at Camp David while Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove, Rice, and Powell pretty much ran the show.

I don't really think Bush is smart enough, nor motivated by evil enough to be the originator of most of the big blunders that happened during his presidency. However, he is ultimately responsible for the actions of his government, and his inaction cannot be excused.

Any thoughts on how the plastic bumper at the bottom might impact that? Do you think that might make any difference at all? You're still going to hit the metal parts regardless, but that initial impact might be plastic

It may prevent some of the older type injuries where you get your calves scooped off in a parking lot, but it doesn't really look like it protrudes out far enough to help out in any other way.

really wanna see a 3rd party agency test this so we can finally get some answers, but with the lower front/angle, but the metal/front edge, it might even turn out to be a less fatalities, but more injuries type of situation. That edge is going to be the key factor.

From what I understand they won't be allowed in Europe due to their increased protections in pedestrian safety standards. Not sure if they did actual testing, or they just didn't meet the minimum standards.

Unfortunately the materials really matters with pedestrian motor vehicle accidents. When I first started working in orthopedics and rehabilitation, metal fenders and bumpers were still regularly on the roads and causing very specific injuries.

When a metal bumper hits you, it doesn't just cause blunt force trauma, it tends to shear muscle away from the bone. There was a specific ankle foot orthosis that was widely produced up until the early 2000s that was meant to replace calf muscles that were scooped off by metal bumpers.

This truck is basically a giant flying wedge of stainless steel, I don't see any pedestrian walking away from an accident with this monstrosity.

(IBA) president, Umar Kremlev, saying that DNA tests had “proved they had XY chromosomes and were thus excluded”.

This incredibly misleading, and I'm guessing since the IBA is currently just a mouth piece for the incredibly homophobic Kremlin.... I'm guessing intentionally so.

Just because you have a xy chromosomes, doesn't mean you're automatically dictated to be sexed as a male. You could very well have a XXY pairing like women with certain types of gonadal dysgenesis, something like Turner's syndrome.

Gender is without a doubt a human construct, but so is the false dichotomy of male/female that most people outside of the medical field view sex.

The intersex population is much larger than most people presume, and the labels in which we use to classify the majority of the population don't really serve a medical purpose for them.

There is no standardization in medicine for Sexual assignment at birth. Sexual assignment in medicine is utilized to categorize treatment needs that are commonly specific to the patient's sex. Intersex patients will require individual assessments, as even patients with the same diagnosis can have wildly different needs.

Yeap, only thing worse than rotary aircraft are apparently tiltrotar aircraft. The V22 is trying it's best to be the most dangerous thing in the air in the worst way possible.

That may be too confusing, you're just going to end up with a bunch of magic casters on horseback.
