Mushroom warp invalidates warp drive as a travel method, that's a fundamental part of the setting here

You can't sneeze when asleep

Or we could just embrace minor cultural differences instead of smoothing humanity out into boring orthodoxy

No technology is a dead end, you can't run trains 30 miles out of town for 6 families already over 500 acres. Just because a technology doesn't benefit urbanization doesn't make it worthless.

Stellaris console is surprisingly good UI wise actually

That massive number of resources, planets, pops, fleets, and everything else is not only understandable but feels magnificent when you have them dancing to your tune. Also my brother in SpongeBob, you literally got mad at a tutorial. On a more serious and hopefully helpful note, the game grows on you like a fungus. It's really not much worse than Civ. Energy is gold, Minerals and Alloys are effectively Production, Unity is Culture (and works almost identically to Civ V, you can't use it to outright win is all) and the scinces are well Science. As for all the others, my man those are your Strategic and Luxury resources. But that's only where the fun starts, the real madness is civ and species generation. I once made space orbital dwelling, advanced robotics having, xenophobic, pacifists that relied on slave labor stolen from nations that declared war on my seemingly defenseless empire. I also made the Megachurch of Dewy, Cheatham and Howe.

Edit: I almost forgot the best terrible civ I made, OnlyStreams.

Because unless you live underground, are blind, or live so far north or south that the day night cycle loses cohesion it's literally as easy as "Can I see daylight?" If you really want to fix it round hours out to 20-30 for easier conversion between days and smaller units, 7 day weeks? That's backwards and hard to convert mentally, make them 10 days. Months are just tied to the lunar cycle we can do better surely. Years are stuck though unless we speed up or slow the Earth's orbit. While we are at it, one time zone, if everyone is on identical clocks it'll save so many issues, I don't want to know when 21:00 is in Hong Kong, I'll just call at Universal 11:00

For you who live in the cities maybe. Personal vehicles will never be something rural people can function without.

I find it helpful to remember "Perfection is the enemy of Progress."

Exactly and it's such a minor thing to bitch about, I understand the date system frustration but over using AM/PM vs 24?

12AM is midnight. As for the other part I have this mind blowing concept for you, our culture is not the same as yours. We have our own ways of doing things, just like you.
