I don't think jailbreaking would allow you to upgrade your operating system, but you could download/install apps yourself instead of using the app store. That would allow you to use older apps that meet your system specs.

When I Google "how to jailbreak iPad 1" there's lots of results. Is it a problem with the operating system being too old?

Would anyone be interested in a comic book community? It seems like the other comic communities are being camped on by "mods" with empty accounts. I'm not sure if @literature.cafe would allow a majorily image based group.

Martha and John Kent may not have changed the world, but Superman sure did

I had someone try to cancel me the other day because I said I prefer a more casual internet experience. The whole thing was wild. They made 5 posts in 6 hours and got banned from two instances, all because they wanted a fight and picked me at random. Apparently they didn't believe me that "I avoid politics on lemmy" has to do with all of the tankie extremism here.

When I was in middle school, a girl did in fact get a bug bite on her eyeball. It was blood red for a week and she couldn't see well, but long term she was fine.

It's an older meme, so it's possible OP just googled a quick template and didn't realize it wasnt the original.

US Midwest - the restaurants I visit don't have iced tea (IF they serve cold tea, it's the premade kind at the soda fountain). I get a cup of hot water, a single bag of black tea, and sometimes a lemon slice. If there isn't sugar at the table you have to ask for it.

😂 leave that shirt as it is. Use it to decorate your house, and as a reminder of your hubris.

Oh man, you guys are thinking way too big. Become the CEO of 3 small companies! Abscond with your 3 100k paychecks while working 10 hours a month. You'll never make the news. Enjoy the easy life.

Actually, you're right. You said I had ASPD, not ASD. Sorry about that.

I know about 5 different people's names at work. If I meet someone new, I forget someone else's name.

Cause that's how brains work.

I haven't updated my music instrument library in years, especially since newer official software doesn't play well with pirated plugins. The last time I downloaded VSTs was 2012ish, back when PB and KAT were still good sources. Music technology (and the instruments people like to listen to) have taken a huge leap since then. I do mostly pop and jazz, so I've got East West, Session Horns, Session Strings, Broadway Big Band, Kontact, and a couple miscellaneous Native Instruments plugins. Does anyone know of production level VST sources for newer versions of these or better software?

My apartment complex is very dog friendly. It's just shy of 100 units and I'd guess around 80% of people have at least one dog. I'm one of those people that doesn't - but only because I can't handle having a pet with my work schedule right now.

So needless to say I see a lot of dogs in the hallways. Every time I cross paths with one, they stand in my way and expect pets. No matter how much their owner tugs on their leash and calls their name, they'll stand firm. They won't jump, or bark, or do anything bad, but they won't move! The only thing that works is to give them a pat on the head and tell them what a good boy/girl they are. Then they wag their tail and go on their merry way.

I don't know how this culture started, but it's been around a lot longer than I have. Every dog knows if they meet someone in the hallway, they're gonna get pets. So they wait. And you gotta, it's the rule.

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post. I'm moving over to Jerboa from rif and I'm having a hard time changing my phone settings. I'm on Android 10. When I used rif, I could open reddit links - and only reddit links - within rif and stay in the app. With Jerboa, clicking on instances, communities, or user pages in comments automatically starts up Gmail. I get that fediverse is based on the same concept as email, but how do I get my phone to stop assuming every @ is an email address?
