Sealioning (also sea-lioning and sea lioning) is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity ("I'm just trying to have a debate"), and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.

The title says it all. Browsed Flathub and saw this fat warning label on the Steam Flatpak. Maybe not the best idea if you want to compete with Canoncial's Snapstore, but hey, what do I know 🤷

Or simply choose a instance that defederates fascists and authoritarian loving dipsshits. Never had a problem here with far right or tankie content.

No idea if Ubuntu does some things better for gaming, but I just use the Steam Flatpak (+ the "steam-devices" package for much better controller support) and the Heroic Game Launcher Flatpak. Everything works fine on my end. I'm currently using an AMD card, but will probably switch to an Intel Arc in the near future (since they have better performance for 3d rendering in Blender, and I'm fed up with Nvidia's prices).

Flatpak will probably be the official default format for non-open software in the future.

Great news. Should there be someday a community version with KDE, I will definitely give it a try. Anyway, I wish them success,

Heroic Game Launcher ist awesome. Use it for both, my Epic and GOG libraries.

Me: Lenore's relationship is messed up.

Also me: That's hot.

Mekuro will be interesting when they integrate email in it. And Elisa is already a great music player that I use for my local collection.

I agree. The FOSS movement is its own subculture that can be pretty preachy and annoying for outside people.

Linux Mint. People praise it as the perfect Window replacement yet when I tried it for a week, it didn't do anything better than default KDE Plasma Desktop. And since the devs haven't even started to work on Wayland support, the Distro will soon fall way behind.

For buying or donating (maybe even subscriptions). Both open source and proprietary software. They're working on it.

Seems like Canonical wants to push snaps now really hard. I hope that Flathub soon implements its payment structure, before companies flock to the Canonical store.

Hey. Short story: I activated Secure boot on my MSI Mainboard and bootet in my new Debian. I realized that I had no wired internet connection and rebooted the system to deactivate secure boot again. Problem is that now my whole Ethernet is borked? I don't get a connection in Debian or my older OpenSuse partition and the Debian install USB stick says that the connection doesn't work. Of course I deinstallieren Windows and now this happens. Tried already a different cable . Any idea what I could do?

Hey Guys.

After a month of dual boot with OpenSuse, I think it's time to switch fully and use a Virtual Machine for Windows 10. I think I will settle for Debian 12 stable since I prefer Flatpaks for almost everything anyway. Tested it a little in virt manager and liked it better than Suse. But I'm not 100% sure about it. I have some questions:

  • I plan to buy a Nvidia card in the near future because I use my PC a lot for 3D art and AMD is simply not there when it comes to rendering time. So another AMD card is not a option for me. But I heard a lot of bad stuff about Nvidia and Wayland not going well together in older drivers. Is Debian 12 "new" enough for the better driver support or will it be a headache?

  • I have not much experience with virtual machines. Can I later move my Windows VM to another SSD?

  • I used the debian network installer in my test vm, is there a option to enable non-free stuff from the very beginning? Or are there better installation methods?

Thanks in advance 🙂

OS: OpenSuse Tumbleweed with KDE. Icon Theme: Reversal

I used the Latte Dock before but since it didn't play nice with Wayland and is basically unmaintained now, I simply transformed a KDE Panel into a Dock. I use a KWin Script called "Panel Auto Hide" to make the Dock disappear when window hits it.
