I'd paste the R*ddit post but...

So basically you rebuild the YouTube app using revanced manager.

  1. Make sure you nuke YouTube from your phone.
  2. Download YouTube apk from apkmirror (don't install yet)
  3. Download and install from revanced.app
  4. Patcher -> select the YT apk. Patch as recommended and install
  5. Download, install and login from microG.org (basically an emulator for Google play services)
  6. ???
  7. Realise you can do the same for ad-free R*ddit, twitter, Instagram apps

Who needs third party apps when you can use ReVanced to rebuild the official app without ads 🤫

I hope r/WorldNews starts posting exclusively Onion articles. And r/Anime_Titties.. well...

This is the right kind of protest to avoid getting nuked. Make subreddits active but useless. It's not against the rules or r/PotatoSalad and r/Trees would be banned.

The bots can have Reddit. I'm happy here

Hope their advertisers are happy serving to bots

There's that very helpful post on how beehaw defederating affects us

If my understanding from that is correct, then all the communities, posts, comments, which lemmy.world or any other servers users have subbed/interacted with are all cloned over or lemmy.world or the respective servers.

So if beehaw shuts down, their data will live on the other servers until they shut down themselves or purge the data for some reason.

Although this would only be useful for archival purposes and not useful to interact with any of the old posts, as any further changes would not be shared across the remaining servers.
