Why did the government change policy then?

[–] Ogoshi@feddit.uk -3 points 10 months ago (3 children)

At the time, people were very open about having large families and being funded for it by the state.

However I don't disagree with the rest of your comment and it's not the point I was making.

Ha! Feel free to rephrase it

It's to do with one of the child benefits, I think they wanted to curb people having too many kids and raking in the benefits when it used to be paid per child. Must have been in place for something like 8-10 years now.

It's just mind boggling the stuff they come out with each week. We're stuffed if they win the next GE. I'd like to think it'll be a cake walk for the other parties but you never know

It seems whatever determines whether a country is safe or not is completely made up if the Government can just change the law to suit their policy.

Ever since maybe partygate they don't even try to hide it anymore.

Sorry to hear what you've been going through, that sounds like a lot to have on your plate. I'm generally no good with advice, but I wonder if you have any hobbies or interests it could be worth seeing if there's any local clubs doing that activity. While it won't fix anything it may give you a little break while being with like-minded people doing whatever it may be.

I was thinking much the same. It's shitty, but nothing new

No I don't doubt that at all. I just don't think we're going to have used car forecourts packed solid with EV's in 7 years time, let alone them also being affordable to the masses.

If they last longer then surely there won't be much of a used market for electric cars in 2030?

It's nice to see the option becoming available for when it's needed, but the use cases must be incredibly niche right now, or people get suckered onto it through ISP marketing.

In a house of 5 people we were rarely maxing out our 80/20, and only upgraded to 300/50 because it was the same price.
