I wish I could upvote this more! Language is a living tool. Constant change in humanity requires communication tools that keep up.

I did buy this barebones, but just before the pro was availabe in white, I bought the fully loaded Q6 (non pro) in dark grey. The keycaps were good! The grey one has since somehow found its way to my son's apartment, but I liked the stock keycaps.

I agree! That "spacebar as case" is a great look. I would love to see some more case creativity in the hobby, but I am not sure the numbers would support manufacturing. We probably need Hipyo tech to start reviewing typewriters. "THE CLACKIEST TYPER...THE BEST MOD TO MAKE THAT BELL REALLY DING". No hate though, I like watching him.

It was a full set with soooo many extras. I would be surprised if there is any keyboard it doens't cover. It was on etsy. The store is jellykeycaps. It took a while, shipped from China, but the quality was excellent. Highly reccomend. I paid $71 for the set.

This is keyboard #3 for me. I think I am finally there. Good feel with the Glorious Pandas (pre-lubed), good sound with a custom internal pad (poly-fill layers wrapped in tape and cut to size). Matching green metal knob from lovemyswitches (turns out knobs from guitar effects pedals fit well and come in a huge variety).

Anyway, I think I am done. My attention has been shifted to classic typewriters. I recently fell in love with the early 1970's Galaxie Twelve in Atomic Blue. (look it up, you too will be smitten). Now THAT is a mechanical keyboard!

Possibly a dumb question, but is there, or could one of the extra smart people here build, a federated marketplace to allow for direct buying and selling without the middle-man enshittification of ebay, reverb, and the like?

Yeah, good point. May just be clear and say "It is 1/5th the length"?

[–] MostlyLazy@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago (7 children)

It should have said "...is 0.2 times longer"

Yep. Turns out guitar and amp knob just work. Was the same on my gmmk pro.

FYI, there is a json file for this on the Keychron site that you can load as custom on the usevia site. It works now!

Just received last night, here is my Keychron Q6 Pro in White with Glorious Pandas, GPBT Arctic White keycaps, and a white Marshall Amp knob.

Still trying to get usevia to work since there does not seem to be a json for the Q6 Pro. The regular Q6 json is throwing an error: "Object: should NOT have additional properties". Any thoughts?

This. Track everything. Once you see it all in front of you and assuming you don't hide the spending from yourself, it is very eye opening.

I spend how much on beer!?!

Be ruthless with tracking and, assuming you found a job with a living wage, and the cost cutting opportunities will start to show themselves
