I'm so glad Australia has been such a good ~~vassal~~ ally to the states, because the states sure do pay it back. I mean, they wouldn't set up military bases on our land unless they really loved us.

pathologic ass headline

my incredibly refined ideological world view is that i want everything to be as it is right now, but i want to comfortably feel like the world super power are the good guys.

It was probably a poor choice of words. It just put the challenges into perspective, and kills a little more of my idealism.

The book also put a lot of righteous anger in me.

I just finished the Jakarta Method and it left me genuinely dismayed. Not like, astounded with how horrible it all was (I knew it was going to be horrible), but more, it made me put the book down and sit with my feelings of dismay. A little bit nauseous, unsettled, feeling a loss of hope for a lot of ideals I hold.

What a horrible period of history, in a century absolutely full of horrible periods.

That's the biggest sticking point for me, and it's so big I'm not sure how liberals are ignoring it: we're seeing what happens right now when you're a friend to the US empire. How anyone can still advocate for being a friend to the US empire - outside of a desire to benefit from imperialism - astounds me.

Kennedy said he planned to dedicate money generated from a sales tax on cannabis products to “creating wellness farms—drug rehabilitation farms, in rural areas all over this country.” He added, “I’m going to create these wellness farms where they can go to get off of illegal drugs, off of opiates, but also illegal drugs, other psychiatric drugs, if they want to, to get off of SSRIs, to get off of benzos, to get off of Adderall, and to spend time as much time as they need—three or four years if they need it—to learn to get reparented

Sounds like a replacement for the cheap agricultural labour immigrants presented.

Space race number two but the US isn't even going to participate this time.
