You know how in these kinds of discussions there's always a bunch of nobodies who come crawling out of the woodwork to defend the person or group being accused or pointed out for doing shady shit. I don't know it just seems weird and suspicious. Apparently I'm not the only one who noticed because they're getting rather aggressively downvoted.

Seems like a honeypot to me, telling people to use something other than their home's connection. Kind of difficult to prove. Really seems like they want that information specifically for the purpose of going after those people, since you know, ISP subscriber ID, can't get that if they use the Library, a friend or acquaintance's house, or an Inn or AirBnB, not saying you couldn't track someone down with those if you wanted to, but it's not as convenient.

Hopefully their stock goes down even more, anything that makes the shareholders suffer is a good thing.

Lemmy isn't impervious to vote manipulation either unfortunately, I encountered someone in a thread earlier who was getting botted, one downvote for every upvote in lock-step with each other. Good news is that Lemmy admins will squish them if you report sussy voting behavior.

Yeah that's why it would be good to make deleted threads still show up for all users, they would be unlisted but the comments would all still be there.

It used to be that this would also happen with comments both deleted and removed but this functionality was changed and comments which are deleted or removed no longer error like that.

That's mainly just the way the backend and UI handles the post, the thread and replies are still there, admins and mods can still see it, it just errors for users. We could potentially modify the Lemmy software (or it could be changed in an update) to allow viewing the deleted thread with the post saying *Deleted by User* just like it does with comments.

Agreed, especially when they betray you and your trust. Had that happen to me before 😭

It's very hard for them to do so, they'll usually do it for people with multiple accounts in the same browser doing it, but they don't bother with any of the bigger methods. Doesn't make them look as good and powerful to normies.

That's how it's supposed to be, but anyone actually aware of how Reddit does things knows that they're actually laughably bad at enforcing their rules. They only do it to look good and convince normies that it's hard and that they'll get caught (I don't know why, seems like preaching to the choir, since normies aren't interested in this shit but whatever).

Yeah, I do have friends who I play online games with. Though I still don't speak because I'm still very self-conscientious about my voice, and I know it's stupid, but it's just how I feel. The only people I do talk with in Voice chat or phone calls are the friends I know in real life.

Right wingers encouraging others to buy upvotes and downvotes on Reddit to push right-wing politics and suppress their opposition.

That is way too expensive for a product like this, that also might not work for its intended use (if their nose isn't fully covered like in the picture, I'd expect the screaming to leak out quite a bit. Might've worked for my idea of using it for call privacy (speaking softly) but still that's way too much for something that'll probably only be useful for that niche use-case.

I don't speak on Voice chat though, mainly because many gamers online are racist (and sexist) pigs. Back in the day I did used to use TeamSpeak to talk to others in games and they both be racist toward me, and make fun of my voice saying I sound like a girl.

So, text only from now on, if reading is too hard especially with spelling mstakes if I'm doing it quickly in game, fuck them.

I do think this could have some use for me though, particularly with private calls which I'd prefer other people to not hear the other side of, though it's still very hard to justify it since it just looks way too silly.

I was looking to try and get the Steam Deck's keyboard themes, the official ones but without getting them via the official methods. The main reason is that when getting them through the official methods they don't work offline but CSSloader themes do work offline and have no DRM.
