I was actually the one removing it. I implemented the support for incoming downvotes and because I and others had concerns to keep showing remote users downvotes publicly we / I removed it.

There was and is not anymore

On mbin users can only see who upvoted a post. An admin can of course still go into the db and look there, but for users and mods there is no way to see who downvoted a post

Thanks man. I can completely understand frustration in that regard though (even if you didn't mean it that way) :)

I can absolutely understand that. I was very surprised as well as I stated often 😅 I can only tell you that I've been running my mastodon server a little longer and I commit to the mastodon server covenant (I think that is what its called). But if you have any doubts you should join fedia.io. Jerry has been a reliable admin for years and years (of all kinds of services)

I used that to filter the data, but it wouldn't generate a pie chart for it XD

[–] BentiGorlich@gehirneimer.de 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I used recharts Though one rendered it with google charts and that did look a lot nicer, but if one fine tunes it, then it will probably look equally good

I think it is 12 old by now

You have the "easy" buttons for users that just want to sign in and don't think about it and then you have the "choose your own" button underneath it. I still am not a fan of this design, but I really care for decentralization and they want to attract "normal" people as well

When my instance turned on registration applications, there was a 10x drop in the number of registrations, and I've heard similar numbers from others.

The question is how much of these registrations are spam accounts. I have open registrations on my mastodon instance and ~70% are spam accounts that I delete within the first day...

Hi guys, Remmina won't connect to a windows 10 PC via RDP anymore. It worked until I upgraded to Fedora 39 (I think, maybe its something different though). I cannot see anything in the logs indicating what the error might be. I tried messing with the settings, particularly the TLS and Gateway ransport type settings, but that didn't change anything. It is not timing out eigher, the disconnect is nearly instant.

I have a SanDisk 256GB extreme pro SD card for my camera. It works perfectly fine with the camera and with windows, but when I instert it into the card reader on linux (fedora 38) I can't copy any files from it:

cp: Fehler beim Lesen von '.../DCIM/112_FUJI/DSCF2001.RAF': Eingabe-/Ausgabefehler

Loosely translated:

cp: error while reading from '.../DCIM//112_FUJI/DSCF2001.RAF': input/output error

the card is automatically mounted and shows up in the file explorer.

The fdisk command return this:

Festplatte /dev/sdg1: 238,27 GiB, 255835766784 Bytes, 499679232 Sektoren
Einheiten: Sektoren von 1 * 512 = 512 Bytes
Sektorgröße (logisch/physikalisch): 512 Bytes / 512 Bytes

I tried following this: https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/comments/habv0q/fixing_linux_sd_card_reader_issues_inputoutput/
but it didn't change anything

Does anyone have any idea?

EDIT:
I used the wrong fdisk command. I used /dev/sdg1 as opposed to /dev/sdg which is the actual drive. Here is the output of fdisk -l /dev/sdg:

Hi everybody,
A few months back I bought the Wichter III complete edition in a steam sale. I finally have time to play it and now it won't launch. Not on my steam deck and not on my Fedora PC. On PC it is just stuck saying "is beeing started" right next to the play button. On my steam deck it is stuck on a blackscreen with a steam loading symbol...

Has anyone else had these problems?

The French government is considering a law that would require web browsers – like Mozilla's Firefox – to block websites chosen by the government.

@peertube I just watched @thelinuxEXP 's video over on @tilvids regarding the dying of the ad supported internet. He said that #peertube will propably not be replacing #youtube because it has no business model for creators and I think this is sadly very true. However, I think there could be one. One like the YouTube premium model where the instance pays the creators by the watchtime share of a paying user. This could (propably) even be implemented today: an instance could pay a cut of their donations to all creators by their server wide watchtime. The instance could have a cut of, say 30% (random number) to pay for the servers. Its not the same, by any means, but it would be a start. THe difficult part is obviously, that the server needs the IBAN, paypal address, or any other way to pay each creator and the instance should be very transparent when it comes to money.
Another way would be a kind of channel membership where some videos are only displayed to paying members of the channel, and the money from such a subsription should go solely to the creator (after the payment processing fees). Another problem is of course that each instance has more to do. Handling money always comes with a lot of work and they'd need an account of some sort to handle that...

So obviously not an easy thing to do, but I think it is absolutely needed to get more creators on board. I'd like to see @peertube implementing something for this, because it would be huge for the platform.
