Niagara Falls, NY is a run down, crime ridden, poopiehole of a city. The Canadian side is much nicer of a place to be.
I agree about the cities, but I think the views are equally breathtaking.
As a New Yorker even I cannot pretend that the Canadian view of Horseshoe Falls isn’t better.
The Canadian side is mostly a shitty tourist trap and a lame casino, but it's definitely worth a day trip to see the falls. The Hornblower boat trip (Canadian Maid of the Mist) and the tunnels behind the falls are really cool, although a bit pricey.
Definitely recommend staying at one of the BnBs at Niagara on the Lake and popping over to Niagara falls for a day, because staying in Niagara Falls sucks. There's one BnB I stayed at a while ago called "The Tea Cosy" I think, if it's still around that place was great. Owners are a super sweet older couple and the breakfast was delicious.
I think it looks amazing from both sides.
I was in the Canadian side just today.
Haven’t been to the American side in years.
Where were you when you took this picture? On the lookout over hang? Or on the rainbow bridge?
Beautiful picture.
Neither, at an observation area in the state park. We did go to the lookout and the bridge later, but this was our first stop.
Thanks!
I read it first as "Nigeria falls from the US side" and it was weird
Why isn't US Government picking it up? Are they stupid?
It's the noise and the scale that really drives the experience home, the sheer volume of water coming through there is immense. Well worth a visit for sure. Although yeah do agree that the other side is better for viewing if you have the option!
