I played one for like an hour with a buddy. It was kinda meh. That being said I think we need more smash clones on the market. Smash releases like what every ten years haha.

All-star Brawl 1 wasn't really a smash clone tho, and I think that's why it didn't do well. It used 3 buttons (light smash, strong smash, special) instead of just smash + special, didn't allow rolling unless you tech, etc. It just required too much learning for a smash player to be considered a smash clone.

How is 3 buttons too complicated?

I don’t think it’s too complicated, it’s just significant enough of a difference to prevent the game from being pick up n play for people who are used to Smash. I think All Star Brawl would’ve been much more successful if they stayed close to Smash’s control scheme, like Multiversus did

Hopefully this time they won't screw over the devs. There was a lot planned for the first one that they had to cut because Viacom (Nickelodeon) gave them minimal budget, they had absolutely no wiggle room on release timeline, and they were outright denied requests to allow things like alternate costumes (on the basis of not diluting brand identity, but then a month later releasing a mobile game featuring heavy gatcha elements for random dress up costume pieces for Nick characters. The lead dev was so pissed off he called it out on twitter.)

The first one had potential but felt short, hopefully this one is more polished

Is this like an expansion or an entire new game? Has it been that long since the first game? At least now there are voice actors.

It’s a new game made from the ground up with crossplay, new models, attacks, supers, meter system and defense options.
