For example, to get through a door the protagonist to drop acid and kick Larry right in his massive tits. But she has to figure this out somehow on her own. No clues.

That's interesting to me, I can't watch a lot of shows because of cringe, but that's one of my favorites
I think it's because it's not just lack of communication that leads to the wacky moments. It's when the A story intersects the B story and the characters don't yet understand how it looks from the outside

Topanga is thrust back into the past where she meets a young Feeny and his late wife, Cory's arm is replaced by Feeny's Spirit in the present which grants him access to his wholesome teacher powers, and the evil rapey college professor played by Fred Savage threatens to take over all of Pennbrooke College by creeping out 18 year old female students. Shawn, Eric, Angela, and Jack are all sages that assist Cory in his fight. Also, the tall, hot, redhead roommate Rachel is clearly a Gerudo.
