Good luck America, you are going to need it.

The times ahead will be hard but I hope we are harder.

We are not...

[–] flabbergast@lemmy.world 59 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Good luck world, this is going to affect more than just the US...

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, people forget that the US has a significant involvement with multiple wars happening right now. America doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Poland is extremely worried right now. And we can say goodbye to Palestine before the end of the year.

Also, get ready for a new microchip shortage. Taiwan is probably going to become a hotspot (hotter than it already is) veeeery soon.

World: good luck America lol

Trump: Literally admitting his plans will cause a recession, in a still fragile economy that will drag the world down with the US...

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago

Yup, Great Depression 2. Part of the reason stock prices are flying higher is because investors think they can sell before the crash happens.

Are people planning to move to Canada, just like last time?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nope. It'll be the UK for us. I'm a dual citizen with a queer daughter. We started contacting relatives when I woke up at 2 am and saw he had won Pennsylvania.

[–] DmMacniel@feddit.org 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sure the UK will be not as a shit show as the USA, but still not great for your daughter :/

Stay safe.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (2 children)

People on Lemmy have been telling me this since 2 am as well as if I'm not aware of how things are in the UK.

I'm very aware.

I'm also aware that conversion therapy is not something my daughter will be forced into in the UK any time soon.

[–] ASDraptor@lemmy.autism.place 19 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, basically it's choosing between getting punched in the face or getting shot (and killed).

Things won't be a fairytale, but the alternative is what? Trump?

Be safe mate.

I'm Canadian and I'm considering moving to another continent. Trump is still too close for comfort.

[–] chaosCruiser@futurology.today 6 points 20 hours ago

Don’t move too close to Russia either. I’ve got a feeling that NATO won’t be holding Putin back for much longer.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 5 points 21 hours ago

I don't think any continent is going to be unaffected by climate change. We have nowhere to run.

[–] Murvel@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Oh, most definitely!

[–] Vikthor@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Or do they have just a concept of a plan to move to Canada?

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 8 points 20 hours ago

Good luck America, whatever you get, you deserve.
