Some of these features are foldable only and Atleast one that that's more a bug than a feature(read: deeper Gemini integration). Either case, I can only hope how individual OEMs apply them onto their skins

marketing needs new numbers to push new phones. New version at least once a year or there's no reason to purchase a new phone

I just recently got rid of my oneplus 5 because the volume button stopped working. So I understand the motivation. But LineageOS has Android 14 running on the S10 and its very possible that when they release an Android 15 version, they also support the S10

Even if they don't. Android 14 itself is not outdated. Even though his phone and its firmaware may be. The list of changes are incremental at best. To take advantage of them all you would need newer hardware anyway. He won't be missing much if at all.
