In other words, he'll purge anyone who doesn't repeat his idiotic yapping.

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 109 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Great plan… use diversity training as a tool to identify generals who might not be loyal, purge them and put stooges in place. This has worked out really well for Russias military.

[–] lemmylommy@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago

This working out great for the Russian military could be the reason behind the plan.

[–] OhStopYellingAtMe@lemmy.world 57 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Tell me how this isn’t fascism again ?

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 47 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Cause when Republicans do the fascism, it's not fascism, it's just conservative values.

[–] vividspecter@lemm.ee 15 points 1 month ago

It's only called fascism when it's from the fascist region. Otherwise, it's sparkling conservatism.

[–] friend_of_satan@lemmy.world 54 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I am interested to see their written definition of "woke".

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 46 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You know there won't be one, and this is just a vehicle to do military purges, right?

[–] pineapplelover@lemm.ee 10 points 1 month ago

Some conservative tried explaining it and I recall she basically settled it being defined as critical thinking.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

There won't be one. It'll be a commissariat type situation that completely fucks our military for decades.

[–] wide_eyed_stupid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Didn't DeSantis (or his lawyer anyway) define it as 'knowing there are systemic injustices and wanting to address them' or something like it? I found it funny when I read that. Back when I was still on reddit, there was of course a huge SelfAwarewolves post about it.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Which means calling something "woke" is also calling out what you perceive as systematic injustices in society.

So being anti-woke is woke in of itself.

Can you fucking imagine clocking into work at the Anti-woke Task Force office? Wearing an Anti-woke Task Force uniform??!!

This might be my halloween costume...

[–] gedhrel@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sexy anti-woke task force officer?

[–] tektite@slrpnk.net 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If it's an Anti-woke uniform I imagine it'll have a vinyl window over the crotch so everyone can see that you're going into the bathroom that matches your genitalia. And of course it'll have a flame thrower so you can burn all the books. You'll probably need the skin color chart from Family Guy; better add grey and green on there to identify the extra-terrestrial aliens. Don't forget your shoes must have heels because all the best Anti-woke crusaders wear heels!

Hmm, what else...

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

The window over my genitals must reveal my chastity cage, obviously.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Sooooo... A task force of racists?

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

How dare you. They'll also be sexist and homophobic. And xenophobic. And aporophobic. And transphobic.

[–] Kayday@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

We need a new word for people with all the phobias. Bigot has lost its oomph, the pizaz, the gravitas.

[–] Shark_Ra_Thanos@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago

You don't have enough of that.

Yeah, cause our fucking military is too woke. Stfu.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I didn't use to be able to decode narcissism at a glance, but basically he's mad that Mad Dog Mattis and his colleagues didn't bend the knee.

Honestly I have never been so accepting of the armed forces as when Mattis openly shunned Trump.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (2 children)

Not just Mattis. He tried to order the active duty military to go after protestors in D.C. They reminded him of their oath and the Posse Comitatus Act. At volume. In the Oval Office. Then they released a force wide memo reminding everyone their oath was to the Constitution, not the President.

He's never forgiven the military for that.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes. Despite all my deep resentments about our war-like ways, they earned a measure of respect for that.

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The military has a lot of bad things. But they are loyal to their own moral code. For an organization mostly made of people who wandered in from the street desperate for money or glory, I think that's pretty neat.

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Most of the bad shit they've done, has been because idiots outside of uniform thought it was politically helpful to them.

We need to stop ordering them to do bad shit and actually try to think before we send them places.

Like when under Arab spring the Egyptian politicians tried to get the military involved to stop the protests, and got back (paraphrased)

"Our primary job is to protect the Egyptian people from violence. You really don't want us involved in this"

[–] Maggoty@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

That's a line they actually use. They usually pair it with pictures of combat soldiers partying in My Little Pony costumes.

They forget that those same guys would annihilate their backwoods militia before lunch if it came down to a fight.

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago

You mean political officers? Like we see on the tvs in all Russia subs...

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

I read it that way too..... honestly wouldn't surprise me in the least if he did say genitals

[–] FunderPants@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Operation Generals Genital General Inspection for Operations is a go.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

"Maybe if I'm an even bigger, sadder bitch, then they'll all tell me how great I am."

[–] scripthook@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know why you need a military task force to monitor genitals

[–] OutlierBlue@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago

Because there are a lot of people obsessed with other people's genitals who are currently unemployed. Find the job you love.

[–] DoucheBagMcSwag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

He wants to have the military be controlled on his every whim. Expect those that don't comply (and didn't in 2020) to be labed as woke and removed.

I hope by that point if that happens I know our armed men and women have been trained to not miss.....

Thats straight out of the communist playbook with political commissars. Think Russia just reinstated that?

what is this even mean? I don't know what this means. I can't do it

[–] linearchaos@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He wants to fire the military and replace it with loyalists. Can't coup without a willing military. He gets in, that move will be paramount.

Just another of his blunders, that's a move you wouldn't announce ahead of time.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

This general has a 3rd cousin who's friends with a gay person. He's woke by association! The whole bloodline is woke! You're fired!

[–] el_bhm@lemm.ee 3 points 1 month ago

Fascism.

He is pandering to fascists.

[–] NutWrench@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 month ago

The ~~"task force"~~ political office won't be looking for "woke." They'll be looking to identify and remove generals who won't follow illegal orders.
