If you do this before work, we call it "The Sandman's Gamble"

[–] li10@feddit.uk 10 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

For me, it will always be four hours and I will somehow wake up with the driest mouth on the planet.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

The trick is to take a bag of pretzels with you.

Either way you gonna wake up wondering what year it is and tryna figure out where the fuck you are.

[–] 0x0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 26 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Well I know that I'm late for school, but I can't go back after everyone saw me in my underwear. Wait, I'm a 40 year old man...

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 15 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

It might seem difficult, but it's never too late to go back to school as a 40 year old in your underwear! We believe you in you! Even if you don't make it I'll bet you end up with some kind of certificate or cool title...

Certainly a special entry in the yearbook!

And why you’re wearing a onesie and shoot webs out your wrists.

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 44 points 18 hours ago (3 children)

Or will you lie awake with your eyes closed for an hour?

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 6 points 14 hours ago

That's the first hour. Yes.

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 3 points 16 hours ago

You know me, huh?

Best way to spend my valuable free time on a Sunday afternoon

I'm jealous of anyone that can nap. It seems so nice and recharging. You just lay down and sleep for a little, then wake up feeling better.

[–] Classy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

My sleep schedule I've been doing for years now is to sleep maybe 4-5 max hours at night and take a 20 minute nap after work.

9 times out of 10 I don’t sleep when I try. If I do sleep it is because I’m exhausted and I wake up feeling worse than when I went to sleep.

When I was younger though, I could nap half a day if I wanted. Depression! The nap maker!

Now that I’m not depressed I barely sleep.

[–] MisterFrog@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Naps are not recommended by sleep psychologists if you are someone who has trouble falling asleep at night anyway, unless you are extremely fatigued, and in those cases, the earlier in the day the better so you can recharge your sleep drive before night.

But yeah, I too wish I could give myself an actual refresh during the day with a siesta, but alas no.

I am not a sleep psychologist and this isn't medical advice, second-hand info.

[–] bighatchester@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

I take 30 minute naps on my lunch breaks all the time . Sometimes I wake up a little confused but it is refreshing. I also work from home so I'm sleeping in my own bed . Also having a newborn any extra sleep is appreciated.

[–] philthi@lemmy.world 9 points 17 hours ago

I can't go to sleep if I don't set an alarm, due to worrying about oversleeping lol

[–] lowleveldata@programming.dev 8 points 19 hours ago

I just wake exactly 10 minutes before the usual alarm time. Always. Even on weekend.

[–] Bangs42@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago

It will be as long as you needed.

[–] quinkin@lemmy.world 6 points 15 hours ago

I will sleep for 5 hours then be awake for the next 32.

[–] nebulaone@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago

I always feel like garbage after a nap during the day.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 5 points 15 hours ago

I love a weekend day with no commitments when I can play this. its the best.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

Now try doing it when you work from home.

[–] v4ld1z@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

A buddy used to do that when we had practise. We'd meet at 6pm and he'd take a nap at like 4pm and then text us around 7 to 8pm, when we'd be finished already, that he napped lol
