Breaking: Tech companies worldwide call for immediate end of home office “The end of days is no excuse to ignore back to office order!”

The great thing from their perspective is that even if they can't make you be onsite, you can still have to work on snow days.

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

you can still have to work on snow days.

When wasn't that true? Lmao

But some school districts did try to pull that bullshit including the one for my kids. Ours reversed course after many parents (including me) started loudly complaining about it lol

currently sitting on a tree that fell down during the hurricane while the chainsaw is getting repaired.

I love long weekends.

I hope you, your loved ones, and your place of living are okay.

And I hope your power is back, if you’re one of the like MILLION affected.

That sucks, sorry to hear it. I'm not in hurricane country, but shear winds knocked down some trees in our yard. One hit the neighbors' garage and a big branch destroyed part of our fence, which keeps the dogs from escaping. Thankfully, I was able to patch it before they got out (we have a dog door).

This basically the setup for Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead. It’s an anime where a guy has his soul drained by an awful company and when there’s a zombie apocalypse, his first reaction is to break into the corner shop and get some beer and have a day off. It’s a fantastic series about living life to the fullest, and the art is so great: it’s incredibly colorful, as opposed to most super-desaturated apocalypse media.

and when there’s a zombie apocalypse, his first reaction is to break into the corner shop and get some beer and have a day off.

That's basically the plot of Shaun of the Dead too.

Kind of, he doesn't actually know about the zombies until after he goes to the store, he's just on such hardcore autopilot.

[–] activ8r@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

No but as soon as he finds out his first reaction is to go to the Winchester, have a pint and wait for it to blow over.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

That was a surprisingly fun show.

[–] cottonmon@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I love how there was a section where everything was in black and white but got more colorful as the MC realized he's finally free while getting chased by the zombie horde.

[–] cosmicrose@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

That was such a good scene, that’s what hooked me

My interest in anime has waned pretty significantly in recent years but did check out this one when I first heard about it. Absolutely excellent, fun, and very moving towards the end.

I feel bad thinking this, and don't want anyone getting sick or dying for any reason, but the beginning days of the COVID pandemic were some of the happiest days of my life.

[–] Tuuli@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Same. Learned a lot about myself during some mild isolation. And, most people are just loud and idiots :)

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Pretty much the whole plot of Zom 100.

[–] Mercuri@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

The way they presented this concept in the anime was amazing. Just so much color!

"You're relieved you don't have to go to work 'cause you thought you were gonna get eaten?!? What the fuck is this world? What have they done to us?? WHAT DID THEY DO TO US??!?"

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 11 points 1 month ago

This fuckin world is so fucked up

[–] Coconut1233@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd imagine retail bosses would still like you to come in

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

"I don't care if the store is rubble, you better be there to open at 8 am or you're fired."

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

my long weekends are usually shortened by one day due to being so dragged out i sleep completely through the entire first one

Always dreamed of a being in a post apocalyptic world, naively thinking I would be a lone survivor just hanging out in the wild, while in reality I would probably just be one of Immortan Joes slaves.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd rather die than live in a Mad Max world. Just let the bomb take me before it happens.

[–] TwoBeeSan@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Yeah I'd be the little dog kid running in caves for worms to eat.

Fucking kill me lol

Yesterday was my Monday and they canceled work for the hurricane good times

[–] mdd@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

While in college we considered any evening snow to mean the next day would have classes canceled. Usually wrong but we had fun.
