I’m loving Lemmy. And I’m loving this instance. Great conversation, no bots, no ads. It seems like there are so many intentional, thoughtful comments here (and Lemmy as a whole) than Reddit.

The way I used reddit was to unsub from all of the defaults and only subscribe to smaller communities I was interested in. That with Apollo, was a decent experience, was enough to remove the thought of ‘internet commodification’ while browsing.

But shit, this is awesome. Thank you for making this space a pleasure to use and scroll through. Feels like the old days a bit, we’re all just figuring out this new(ish) space.

This is what I want out of my social media ... just people talking about a topic and giving their opinion and perspective in a sensible, non antagonistic way. All in simple text with no flash or flair .... or advertisements ... or anyone or anything automatically trying 'engage' us or manipulate us.

No need to know the other person's personal history or background and just give a bit of trust with everything that is being said in order to drive a conversation.

It's what social media should be.

...and thanks to you for being here!

It's nice to have a relaxing place to chat and discuss the latest without the air of "social media" companies like Reddit and Twitter are constantly trying to capitalize on.

Agreed! Been here for a week and am way more active with likes, comments, etc. here.

Feel way less "gross" spending some time on here vs. Reddit, Twitter, etc.

I also like this! At first I was a bit bummed out on why I couldn't doom scroll like on reddit.

The fact that the ecosystem was fragmented in multiple little instances made me think that it's possible I wouldn't like it in the end.

But I find myself gravitating more towards my local instances subs then all. (Even though with wafwaf the discoverability factor is severely increased.) The reason is I like the fact that it is a small community.
