One day I created a reddit account. I used a couple of names but they were all taken. That's when I let fate decide my name. The gods bestowed upon the name StrikingDebate2. This name has been with me for so long why should I leave it? Why should I reject the gods judgement? Of course, you can just call me striker for short.

Because I identify as the divine.

[–] lunaticneko@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And owing to our heritage, I am obligated to revere you as our god. Hail to you!

Because I collected lots of bionicles and I thought the rahkshi were cool as hell with awesome powers plus cool staffs as weapons.

Loved homestarrunner.com when I was a kid

[–] Nemo@midwest.social 2 points 1 year ago

It's my name. Anonymity is an illusion.

[–] Skepticpunk@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

The logical conclusion to being a skeptic is being punk.

[–] braxy29@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

been using this username for about 15 years. i guess i could have tried my preferred version from years before that, i bet it's still available. but anyway, this username is just me at this point.

[–] kamen@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I wanted to use my IRL given name instead of a nickname, so here I am.

[–] Nikki@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

its my name, i picked my name, i like my name

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago

Been using it for years in various places, though mostly while locally testing variables and such. Similar to 'aFile, bFile, cFile'.

[–] ultralight@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Have been a part of the lightweight backpacking community for a decade plus now. Have always loved the insane lengths folks go to shave a few ounces, such a funny hobby to me. I also just love the name.

[–] Prinny@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

It's one of my favorite characters from the disgaea series.

[–] extinctkimono@lemmy.one 1 points 1 year ago

I misunderstood a lyric from Zappa's "Joe's Garage" decades ago.

I own that misunderstanding and prefer it to the original!

Because it's my Hobbit name.

[–] tallwookie@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

dunno, been using it for ~20 years now

[–] Zhao@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 year ago

Just finished playing Yakuza:LAD

Carbolyzed Marinara sounded too formal.

[–] writerlygal@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Used a url generator thingie, and then used the name it came up with as my username everywhere

[–] Ab_intra@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

It's cool. 😁

[–] jg1i@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Because it doesn't matter what my username is. It's just a unique identifier for my data on Lemmy. I use my password generator to also generate short usernames.

[–] AquaTofana@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Meh, I'm interested in the macabre. And it was the first thing I thought of when that abusive doucher in Texas started whining about ending no fault divorces a few weeks ago.

[–] Weirdfish@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Fall of 1993, I'm in a college dorm trying to pick an IRC handle. Let out a very loud and nasty burp.

My buddy says "Man, that was a weird burp". So that almost became my nick, weirdburp. At the last moment I went with weirdfish as Fish was my nickname in high school.

[–] pezhore@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

At this point, despite being a bit annoying to explain, it is who I am outside of work. Literally every search results for "pezhore" is me.

[–] mich_iel@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

bin ein michi

[–] GolGolarion@pathfinder.social 1 points 1 year ago

Wanted to distance myself from my previous username because the idea of being recognized is scary to me for some silly reason, so I blended a name from my favorite video game with the theme of the instance I joined.

Gol Golathanion, but from the TTRPG setting Golarion.
