1,24 billion worth of wood crates is somehow both sad and amazing.

I think it's tied to the logistics/shipping industry. No matter where you are in Europe, at least 1/3 of trucks are from Poland (source: number I've made up, just to say that trucks from Poland are everywhere).

Am I reading this correctly? This is a list of things where the top global exporter is a european nation?

[–] GregorGizeh@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 months ago

That's my interpretation as well, they sought out a commodity for each country which they are the lead exporter for.

My follow-up question is then: Shouldn't countries be able to appear multiple times in a list of that criteria, if they're a top exporter in multiple industries? Were those secondary industries excluded intentionally, or do they not exist?

Might just be whichever thing they export most out of the things they are the top exporter of. But honestly the graphic is worded a bit strange.

I think this is just the top European exporters of a given commodity. Not the top global exporters.

Y'all. Just read the text on the chart. It's not that hard.

I'd imagine that would be second.

I am surprised that cz isn't the top exporter of beer. But I know about the microscopes.

Germany has the biggest sex parties for sure. But they are not so much exported as other people come for them.

A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat!

I find it most interesting that Switzerland is leading in gold. Because they don't produce gold, they import unrefined gold and export it refined.

Hard Liquor 😂 Couldn’t we be the chief exporter or biscuits or Yorkshire tea?
