Quality over quantity I'll say. I think of it as coming in on the ground floor of building something new. Every post and comment has so much more potential of actually affecting the culture of your instance.

I'd rather have a few, legitimate answers to a question than a bunch of goobers replying "I don't know" in so many words, which is what Reddit had been the last 5 years or so.

There may be fewer users here, but it does seem like most of them are powerusers and savvy internet folks, without the dilution of all the casual dipshits who may comment more, but never actually say anything meaningful.

I will reply to this post, to prove that there is active people on the Fediverse.

Only one way to fix that.

I read it. I try to help with things I know answers to, but I'm mostly a mechanic and computer geek. What's your question??

Increasing interaction is the way

At least here it will be seen and likely even replied to.

It's a chicken or egg problem. Just start engaging here as much as you can.

That's just for it goes at the moment. Reddit still has a much larger user base

I would post to both: at least on lemmy you can use your phone to create the post and read the replies without having to deal with reddits garbage ux on phones. Then you can just copy paste what you wrote on lemmy to reddit next time you're on desktop/laptop.

I feel like there are more actual people (humans) here on Lemmy/Kbin, as opposed to reddit which seems to be full of low effort posters and bots.

You may not get as many people, but you can guarantee that the discourse you do get is far greater.

Came here to say "but is that a bad thing?" Then I saw

But again, the low quality of reddit posts always reassures me that I miss nothing
