A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Random twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Low Hanging Fruit thread.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. These include Social media screenshots with a title punchline / no punchline, recent (after the start of the Ukraine War) reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Low effort thread instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

Maybe we'll see an influx of new users from r/NCD. Maybe we'll see some more activity here! I only lurk these parts (same on reddit) because it's fun to read shitposts every now and then.

It's pretty dumb for RA to go after NCD, I clicked on far too many NSFW posts without realizing what it was as they weren't labeled. The arguments NCD mods present with sources are true. I feel like it's reddit just trying to stem the loss of money. Their IPO valuation has lost 41% of its value in a year^[1] and now their bottom line is being affected because users realized advertisements aren't shown on NSFW subs.^[2]

  1. Bloomberg News - Reddit Made the Mistake of Ignoring Its Core Users

  2. The Verge - Reddit demands moderators remove NSFW labels, or else

You should join in the shit posting the world keeps getting more noncredible by the week 🙂

[–] PoppinKREAM@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I think NCD provides enough mobikcube memes to be self-sustainable. Which is another reason why RA demanding the sub no longer be NSFW is farcical lol

[–] PigglyWiggly@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

Goes to show Reddit admins realize that 87% of their platforms value is stored in B-21 Raider Waifu memes.

Source: trust me bro

I picked this instance simply and entirely because it had the most active NCD spinoff on lemmy. I wish we could get the whole goddamn crowd out here.

[–] TWeaK@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

You don't need to be on any particular instance to visit any other (so long as your instance isn't defederated). I picked lemm.ee because it isn't defederated from much, but more importantly the admin seems to know his stuff and has been making key contributions to the Lemmy codebase (as well as updating his mods into his instance first).

[–] Shit@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

You can crosspost between the less active instances to here. I kind of like that we have other options if things go south here as well.

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ideally, I'd like to see us have our own instance, rather than still being on someone else's platform.

[–] munkisquisher@kbin.social 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

What's a good ncd alternative here?

[–] MonsieurHedge@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago

You are literally on m/NonCredibleDefense.

[–] imaqtpie@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Congrats, you're one of the first Lost Lemmings. 😅

[–] larsmaehlum@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Can confirm that people are joining from r/NCD
Surprised to find some other essential subs here as well (including reddevils)

I also picked this instance because I need my NCD fix, and because I liked the culture here

Their valuation lost 41% before any of the current mess

[–] Helldiver_M@kbin.social 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Thanks for cross-posting this @PigglyWiggly. I just included an update in my original Kbin post, which I'm sure you're all already aware of by now. But just in case you weren't; The mods have capitulated, and the sub is SFW again: https://teddit.adminforge.de/r/NonCredibleDefense/comments/14t393z/ncd_admins_and_you_recent_developments_inside/

[–] Evoke3626@lemmy.fmhy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

So based. Bless that sub and it’s people lmao

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

As a certain former first gentleman once said, "For the first time, I was proud of my noncredible country."

[–] qwamqwamqwam@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

~~Holy fucking based.~~

Edit: nevermind, their newest post reverses all the protest changes lest they get kicked out. Why are mods so attached to their fake internet power?

[–] Jumuta@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I hope more people migrate to Lemmy for this lmao

[–] corq@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I'm new to Lemmy, and had just gotten "into" r/NCD over the last year.

I'm sure I'll probably skim NCD for the memes, but I'm seriously impressed with Lemmy. I hope this portends good things for the future.

I'm kind of a n00b as a shitposter though, i've got a lot of miltary history to read through. The NCD community has provided (no matter where they are hosted) literally some of the best 'hidden history' lessons I've ever encountered. I seriously hope Lemmy is adopted as a legitimate alternative.

/drunk //Love you guys ///slashies

[–] emn316@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

I hope people migrate to Lemmy as well. Hopefully people who are more intelligent than idiots who terminate sentences with "lmao".

[–] Ieatcrayons@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago (3 children)

That post prompted me to make an account and move to Lemmy today. Not sure if I'm gonna meet your expectations lmao

[–] Ilovethebomb@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Let's be honest, you didn't actually laugh your ass off, did you?

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's on the floor was we speak

[–] nuke@yah.lol 2 points 1 year ago

The ass fell off. That's not very typical I'd like to make that point. There's lots of asses walking around and I wouldn't want anyone thinking it was unsafe.

[–] HampeMannen@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yup, same here. Think the reddit mods should've just let the subbreddit be taken over by admins and move over here as a show of defiance, but i guess they're too afraid of losing their mod powers there which is sad

[–] emn316@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 year ago

Owning intelligent people by doubling down on idiocy. Well played.

[–] Ringoman@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Wow what a hot take, lmao

[–] Jumuta@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

lmao, you ended your sentence with "lmao".

[–] Immaterial@lemmy.fmhy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I FUCKING LOVE IT WHEN THE WHEELS FALL OFF VENTURE CAPITAL.

(I've noticed that posts over here seem to lack excessive capitalisation, which is at least 32% of what gives NCD it's peculiar charm).

[–] SexWithSilverWolf@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

~~Based~~

Nevermind

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Nah, too much work. We gotta get some secret shit done in Crimea. WITH OUR AUTISM.

[–] JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I saw some people over there suggesting nsfw gore and porn memes to justify the nsfw label, should we help out? I'm not on Reddit anymore, but I could make an exception

[–] erin@lemmy.sidh.bzh 1 points 1 year ago

no, you should not, if you create an account on reddit, you add value to reddit and give money to spez. Let just hope for a bigger migration of r/NCD over here instead ^^

[–] MomoTimeToDie@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 year ago

Alternatively, you can make a reddit account to spam illegal content all over reddit, wasting their resources and making them look bad to advertisers
