FTA:

Microsoft has brought back everyone's favorite deal: $1 for a month of PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate. If you're purely interested in PC, that's 100-some very high quality games available on a windows PC for a month, and then a bunch of EA games as well, since PC Game Pass also includes an EA Play membership.

You can find PC Game Pass for $1, for a limited time, on Microsoft's store. PC Game Pass is $10 a month after the $1 promotion, while Game Pass Ultimate is $17.

I have Game Pass Ultimate and it's been a wonderful way to try all kinds of games console and PC that I wouldn't otherwise play. I discovered Hardspace: Shipbreaker this way, and have sunk dozens of hours into it.

I swear they said they wouldn't be doing this deal ever again.

Actually nice to see they lied...

It'll be interesting to see if this runs long enough to overlap with the Starfield launch - I could see them getting an insane spike in subscribers then anyway, but this would likely seal the deal for many more.

My most recent $1 Game Pass came from setting up Windows 11 on a new computer. One of the setup steps was "hey $1 Game Pass if you do it right now".

I haven't tried it, but if you had a junk computer or spun up a virtual machine, you could probably score a bunch of months.

For new accounts only it seems.

No surprise there. Still, if you have a bud that’s yet to try it, great deal.

Apparently not... at least I still don't understand how it works, I've paid for both PC and Ultimate with a single account and I'm still getting the deal.

It shows the deal, but if you try to buy it you get normal price. At least for me.

Honestly I have so many games that when I had game pass (I got like six months for $10 or something I don't remember) I only ended playing like two games off of it lol.

I play games on Gamepass and then if I want to own them, buy on Steam. Signalis and Chained Echoes stare two. I tried just sticking with Gamepass but a few have disappeared while I’m playing,

"Very High Quality Games" I check their library every few weeks. A lot of indie and shovelware.

[–] Boiglenoight@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

There's a lot of that, but plenty of solid 7's and 8's that again I'd otherwise not play (pay full price for). Turns out some of those games even with their problems are worth sinking many hours into.

Heck, I think the game I've played the most is the Lonely Mountains: Downhill game.

Citizen Sleeper is another great game that's well worth your time!

[–] MintyMint@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Really need to replay it. I only finished it once. Loved the experience.
