I haven't deleted anything on reddit, but I have not been back there since the protests began. The Fediverse is my new home and I am happy to be here.

[โ€“] ShlorpianMafia@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I only ever go there to check the front page/news now. Lemmy is growing fast, but being decentralized, at the moment it's still easier to catch up on politics and world news using reddit.

Would be easiers by subscribing to theses communities until they merge in one. You will see more subjects that interest you.

Until the merge, I have different accounts with different orientations.

Actually, if u don't do that, Lemmy is really "hazardous".

Yes, for sure. Felt like Reddit where going downhill for a long time. This frog is finally jumping out of the pot.

[โ€“] Lemmyatem@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

Yes. Just hoping lots of communities get as popular as asklemmy and showerthoughts. Sad looking up some Reddit equivalents and seeing 2 subscribers and no posts.

[โ€“] Woshimaraci@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yep, left reddit and came to lemmy.

[โ€“] meat_glue@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

Already have.

[โ€“] Poppa_Mo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Working on it for sure.

[โ€“] hardypart@feddit.de 1 points 1 year ago

100%. Lemmy is my new drug.

[โ€“] moonwalker@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Yes. I haven't used reddit since I signed up for Lemmy.

[โ€“] nic@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago

i still have a million things 'saved' on reddit i need to check out and there's that one niche sub i lurk that doesn't seem to want to migrate but other than that yeah this is it for me. lemm.ee + wefwef

[โ€“] Popinguj@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I registered to try it out. Looks nice so far. Hopefully more users switch and start filling this place with content.

[โ€“] Peeko@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

If reddit kills my patched third party app then I'm done using it on mobile, and if they kill old.reddit then I'm done using it on desktop. I'd switch to Lemmy or kbin full time but the content variety is VERY low compared to reddit still, especially for more niche topics like specific games or hobbies.

[โ€“] nigh7y@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I've already managed to replace Reddit on mobile. On the desktop, however, I'm partially there. There are still a couple of communities I follow that only exist on reddit.

[โ€“] tiny_electron@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

I uninstalled Reddit when Infinity died

[โ€“] Auzy@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

I don't have any accounts in reddit anymore. I only browse reddit maybe for 5 mins a day now. I could block reddit without barely noticing at this time

[โ€“] noisy@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago

I think I accidentally opened reddit once, trying to get an answer from a google search. I'm done with Reddit.

[โ€“] notun@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

No, because the niche subs aren't alive here.

I abandoned Reddit entirely when Sync shut down. Beehaw and Lemmy at large seem like a (mostly) great place and I'm here to stay.

[โ€“] echoplex21@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I browse through brave browser out of spite now hit after downloading Memmy Iโ€™ve found myself on Lemmy way more than Reddit. Also feel I contribute a lot more to conversations than I did on Reddit.

[โ€“] martyc3@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I was fairly new to Reddit but really liked the way it was organized by topic. It was easy for me to delete my few posts and then delete my account. So I'm now rooting for Lemmy and seeing nice progress. Also looked at Threads and was amazed how well it worked right out of the gate. It shows what a multi million dollar budget can accomplish.

Yes, not sticking around while it slowly becomes a worse and worse user experience

I am, here's the proof:

me with lenny

I would like to, but let's be real, i had a question about a game today and i went to Reddit because that game deosn't have a Lemmy community.

Reddit has more people, more content, and more history. Only an actual collapse will make Lemmy a superior alternative.

[โ€“] DundasStation@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago

I'm bouncing around Reddit and Lemmy. Won't be contributing much to Reddit anymore and will be posting and commenting on Lemmy.

Iโ€™m pretty close. I still check a few smaller Reddit communities but only when Iโ€™m on my pc in the browser. Almost all interacting (posting and comments) is on Lemmy now.

[โ€“] CMGX78@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

Absolutely.

[โ€“] CoffeeBlood91@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 year ago

I refuse to go on Reddit, it sucks because it takes way longer to find the answers I search for.

Yesterday I have as first step deleted all my reddit posts and comments. Still keep my account for possible GDPR request later.

[โ€“] Rev@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago

So far am trying too. I usully get most of my news from reddit during normal use. Would normally browse by Hot on R/all and first few posts were typically "important" news articles. Don't really see the same amount of posts here. Maybe will pick up during election season or will have to break down and find a more dedicated news server.

[โ€“] victron@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

I already did, during the blackout. I honestly didn't have much hope for things to improve or roll back. Also, in the last month I've seen the communities grow a lot, so I don't miss reddit that much.

[โ€“] TIEPilot@lemmy.world -1 points 1 year ago

Lemmy at home, reddit at work. Lemmy has WAY too much porn on the main page for work...

[โ€“] Krause@lemmygrad.ml -2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Already have ๐Ÿ˜

I would've done that a while ago if not for the left wingers populating all those communities. But, at least i tolerate left wingers better than right wingers.
