"Russia has never invaded Ukraine"

It's the new Stalin did nothing wrong.

[–] Four_mile_circus@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

Yeah, no. Russia's acting like the bully (or abusive parent) who kicks your ass on the regular, now out in public with people watching, holding up a fist and then laughing at you for flinching. "Look at this p-ssy acting like I'd really hit him", says the bully, and he knows and you know he's going to beat your ass when no one's watching, but to the rest of the world he has plausible deniability. The bully's not going to beat your ass now, because people are watching and he's afraid of consequences, but watching you flinch back makes him feel just as strong as beating you does.

That's Russia right now. Announcing an ongoing genocide in Ukraine, moving 100k troops to the border, and then going "lol you cowards thought we were serious? Fuck you." And then when the media cycle moves on and the world stops paying attention and Ukraine tries to go back to normal the troops will still be there waiting.

There's a reason Trump and his supporters love Putin so much. They both confuse bullying with manliness.

You are spewing lies. Which Russian official said anything like that? You clearly believe too much in the propaganda from western media.

[–] jay91@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago

That sounds fair.

[–] olive@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago

Got to respect the sass.

Top tier trolling

Classic KGB. Fear, uncertainty, doubt.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Except that it's US and UK who are spreading FUD.

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Amassing troops on Ukraine's borders, edging warplanes into Finland's airspace, and getting chased about by the Irish fishing fleet certainly isn't spreading FUD, right?

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Amassing what troops? Meanwhile, exact same kind of edging is done by US regularly. US sub just violated Russian waters this week. Maybe stop guzzling propaganda for a bit and go touch grass.

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Are you calling Putin a liar? He said that the amassed Russian troops are withdrawing. So... those troops?

And those satellite photos of military bridges being erected in Belarus really sound like US propaganda. Yep. You doubt the facts and claim doubts as factual, comrade.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's not what he said at all. Russia conduced a joint anti-terrorism exercise in Belarus that was scheduled back in 2019. You should learn some basic facts before running your mouth.

[–] guojing@lemmy.ml -2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

"Ukraines borders" is Russian teritorry, so of course the military is stationed there. Meanwhile, why does United States and NATO have military bases all over eastern Europe?

[–] abbenm@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

so of course the military is stationed there

What are you talking about? They weren't stationed there until just this year. And they're stationed in Belarus, Moldova, Crimea along with forces in the Baltic Sea.

[–] abbenm@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

The stupid, it burns. There's ~~130k to 150k~~ possibly 190k troops there now. No previous article mentions that number of troops. This represents an escalation, which is higher than any number in the articles you are linking which means....there are new troops there that were not previously there before. Kinda weird that I have to say something like that out loud.

This also completely ignores the fact that the largest country in the world, specifically massing troops on all borders of a specific country isn't the same as having them distributed anywhere in the country.

[–] guojing@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

The Southern military district is headquartered in Rostov on Don since 2010, which is 100 km from the Ukrainian border. It would be very strange if there were no military units stationed before this year.

[–] abbenm@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That has nothing to do with the recent escalation of military presence, which I know that you know, so why are you wasting both my time and yours?

[–] guojing@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

You must be talking about these satellite pictures of Russian tanks being parked outside their permanent barracks. Really scary!

And which recent escalation do you mean exactly?

[–] abbenm@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

There is a substantial new troop presence at a scale without recent precedent and you're just trying to change the subject. It has recently been reported as 190,000 troops. Literally none of the articles cited by you or your friend have those kinds of figures.

So to recap:

  • The Rostov base has nothing to do with anything
  • a news cycle about a picture has nothing to do with anything
  • The timeline of previous buildups have nothing to do with anything.

You're just cycling through stupid derails, one after another. Next you're probably going to post a news article about how a reporter said something wrong about Russia in 2017 and say "what about this?!?!" And that, too, will have nothing to do with anything.

You're continuing to waste my time and yours, which I'm guessing is the goal here.

[–] guojing@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago

Yes a lot has been reported, but actual proof is never given. Thats probably why you didnt bother linking any sources for your claims.

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

To discourage Russia from invading it's neighbors, maybe? As it repeatedly has. You're not suggesting that the massed troops aren't a direct threat, are you? Because the last time that happened, Russia did indeed invade Ukraine.

[–] guojing@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Russia has never invaded Ukraine. If you are talking about Crimea, there was a referendum held on joining Russia, and the large majority agreed. Not surprising when a fascist coup is happening, and nationalist militias intend to murder ethnic Russians.

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Untrue, comrade. Donbas was lousy with Russian troops. You've got quite a list of lies there, too. The best one is divining intent without a shred of evidence.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Using that logic, NATO has invaded Ukraine since Ukraine is crawling with NATO troops.

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Using your Russian propagandist logic, NATO rescued their Ukrainian speaking peoples.

[–] yogthos@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Rescued from whom exactly?

You've sunk from word salad to memes.

I have watched videos from Donbass, and there was not a single Russian soldier to be seen. But if you are so sure, show me a single picture/video of a soldier with Russian insignia in Donbass. It is true that individual Russians travelled to Donbass and joined the militia. Nothing wrong with that, fascists from all the western countries are fighting alongside the Ukrainian military.

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml 0 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Lol, they dropped that pretense quite a while ago. You're late to the disinformation campaign. The little green men are so 2014.

Also, if everyone looks like a fascist to you, is that because you're a communist?

[–] guojing@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

How would you call these guys?

[–] ArchimedesTesseract@lemmy.ml -1 points 2 years ago

Dudes with no sense of irony. Probably dead to Russian shelling that Russia still denies.
