So I’ve been told
Me too but I'll parrot it like I was there when it happened.
WTF LMAO
In my defense, a lot of people (sheeple) are unfamiliar with the term (I am a lemming).
Make a Mega-"Thread"?
For me, if the whole point of the fediverse is decentralization and the fact that one entity can’t destroy it for everyone else, and they somehow do, then maybe we should go back to the drawing board anyway.
Like for years we’ve been selling people on ActivityPub apps with the PRIMARY selling point being that big corps have no power here. And now we’re afraid to put the very concept of these apps to the test?
This is my thoughts as well
How can a 90's game tell you these things?
I don't think you're surprising anyone with that
99999th time? That's not a round number. Let's make it a 100000th time.
Threads will destroy the fediverse! Its strategy is to embrace, extend, extinguish (EEE). Don't you get it? Our days are numbered!
It happened with XMPP guys!
They'll Extends, Embrace, Extinguish.
Damn i didnt even get it right after seeing it everywhere
Seems like it's working. Good.
I am lemming
make sure to block threads on mastodon. use this guide to help: https://deasilex.com/how-to-block-external-instances-on-mastodon/
the filter should be @threads.net with complete word enabled
I mean, yeah, everyone here probably either knows or is willfully ignorant
But on the other hand, people still aren't getting it. Every thread about it is 4/5 "we need to head them off at the pass!" And the rest is "but the content tho" or "yeah, Facebook sucks, but we should wait and see"
Those of us who get it understand this is the greatest threat the fediverse has faced, and the technology is still young and very vulnerable.
And admins already appear to have taken money (or at least got in a room, signed an NDA, and came out pro-Facebook on this one).
This isn't just a circle jerk, this is the front line of the fight to take back social media
