Saw a post about the old Nike kit and it reminded me of this.

Damn can’t say I ever saw this. I remember seeing the OG iPod in CompUSA on display and just enjoying the spinny wheel. As a 13 year old it was glorious.

I didn't get an iPod until Gen 2, but I got it through a pyramid scheme involving collecting enough codes through subscribing to services that you would get a free iPod out of it. They didn't expect people to get onto forums and share codes. Oops.

I've always wondered if people like you existed for real. That's some real cartoony, Disney channel original movie type scheming there. Good to know you got one over on a grifter too.

Yo dawg, I heard you like iPods so I attached an iPod to your iPod so you can listen while you listen. (Looks like a shuffle)

I have one, it works on pretty much everything including the classic 7. One quirk of the design is that you can use either the headphone jack on the remote or on the iPod, but the one on the iPod will give you much worse reception as it won’t use the headphones as an antenna.

Yes, I recall one of the late gen nanos has this built-in and used the headphones as an antenna.

Oh man, I loved that thing.

Tons of little accessories like this.

Feels kind of silly when the real hardware controls are a foot away. I’m surprised these haven’t gotten a resurgence in popularity with current touchscreen DAPs.

I had one. It was great for clipping on my jacket so I could easily control the music while riding my motorcycle… until I replaced it with a shuffle.

I would put my shuffle on my sleeve and control it with my other hand. I remember once I was going over 200km/h and the song was staying alive when the music abruptly stopped. I looked down to see just the headphone cable flapping in the wind. By the time I circled around to find it, it had run over by at least 20 cars. 🥲

How do you solve that today? I've been looking for a bluetooth remote or similar to use while biking but haven't found anything I like yet. Not the same I know, but similar enough

I use apple EarPods pro.

“Hey siri skip” the voice control works in the helmet. The only thing I don’t like is because of their physical design (long shafts) they are almost guaranteed to fall out every time I take my helmet off.

If I buy a new set I will get the beats buds. They are very similar but don’t have the same physical shape.

Sure do. I’ve owned every generation of iPod. Sadly due to time and children I don’t have any of them anymore.
