What’s the source here? Why is this just a screenshot?

There’s an article up on BBC now. Looks like the only source they have saying this is the leader of Belarus. Sounds fishy.

...in a tank, or in a prison cell? Or in a café drinking ^polonium^ tea?

He is near an open window

The question should really be how many feet underneath russia is he?

Exciting times!

Will this be the first time Lukasjenko tells the truth?

No one knows.... Only time will tell.

Footnote: why do we still publish and read news based on what dictators or influencers have to say? Humanity is doomed 🙂

Lukasjenko definitely feels he has something to gain by relaying this information publically. If no one can prove him wrong it doesn't matter if it's true or not. You would think with his ties to Putin he wouldn't need to make a public statement like this. The goal was definitely to have certain people hear this news.

The question is, is he trying to expose Prigozhin and get him arrested/killed, or is this a show of force towards Putin to gain a bit more independence, is it a message to his own population or supposed to throw off the West?

His body has already been cremated.

[–] Glunkbor@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He should not get near any building with windows.

Maybe it was all a ploy to see which generals were disloyal to Putin.
