See I knew it was probably about minors, but I don't understand how that notation equates to a minor scale in any way.

The key signature for A minor is no sharps or flats, but if that's the joke they're going for, then both images are in A minor. So I'm not entirely sure what they're trying to go for here either

Don't know about the first, but it could mean just a couple of "G's".

The latter is the signature for the key of C-Major, but more likely it refers to that key's relative minor, A-Minor, which is notated the same way.
