Going on a run in the morning is a good way to guarantee that your day can't get any fucking worse.

Hahahaha, a corollary to WC Fields saying "I feel sorry for people who don't drink, when they get up in the morning, that's the best they'll feel all day"

All I can say is if getting up is the best, I'm fucked.

When I was a regular runner I hated getting up in the morning but preferred running in the morning. I'm not really a morning person but the easiest way to beat the heat is to run as early as you can. Preferably before the sun comes up.

I loved getting up in the morning to work out. I felt like I was alone.

What I didn't like was that feeling was only for a few minutes, as I joined the 100+ other morning runners who also woke up early to be alone.

I live in a climate where running midmorning is great. At 10am it's a lovely 15 or so degrees in the summer, maybe 20 on a hot day. Any higher and screw running that day but it'll be cool again soon. Great for running after I've had time to remember my own name.

I stopped running years ago. It's not too great for the knees. I've been walking instead. 10k steps a day minimum without the torture of running. Been much happier and very healthy as well

As someone who went on a run before breakfast this morning: I feel like the penguin on the right most of the time. I'm barely keeping up with my chores and social life, I reduced my working hours to 36 per week because 40 was too much. Being able to go on a run is one of the few things I am sort of keeping up with.

As someone else that's started running in the morning in the last year, can confirm. I feel like I barely have any control of my life. The running is the only thing that makes me feel good right now.

I run about 20 miles a week, but I absolutely cannot run first thing in the morning. There are just too many moving parts to coordinate and I have a terrible run every time I do it. I'd much rather run in the sun or wait for dusk than do it early in the morning.

For me, the run right after I wake up is a part of how I process being alive.

In my experience, running is meditative in nature. I don't know what mental state I'd be in without running in my life.
