Tipster Zacbucks noted “Xperia 5 series, R.I.P 2024” in one of his recent Weibo posts. However, he didn’t provide any reason behind this claim.

Wow, what solid evidence to base your entire article on!

So the entire article is just based on what some random tipster on Twitter said? Amazing.

Yes, and they discounted the entire thing a day later after further leaks suggested the 5 VI actually was in development. Smartphone "news" is really bad, so much of it is based on unsubstantiated rumours and leaks that turn out to be wrong.

And there ends any interest I had in Sony Phones, which was pretty much there already after the pitiful 5 mk5..🤦🏻‍♂️

The only reason I didn't buy one is because of its bezels which got bigger than last year. I want to support smaller phones but they make it really hard.

I don't even know what's the difference and which lineup stands where.

5 is the "small" (medium) series, 1 is the big flagship and 10 is the mid-range option.

I really don't get what Sony has been doing with their 5 and 1 Series. Like why do they always release in the end of the year and why are both still using these akward 21:9 screens. They otherwise are cool phones but doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome is madness.

If only Sony had enough market share to make anyone care.
