"may still get the odd update 'here or there'" to f***up my mod list, YAY!

Still in love with that bloody game o7

[–] Murdoc@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Still haven't managed to get myself to do the big update yet because of the metro mod. 😭

[–] aesopjah@lemm.ee 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

metro mod works (I'm on v2.01).

didn't they add official metros in the latest update anyway?

[–] Murdoc@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Yeah but from what people are saying, it isn't as good as the mod version. 😒

[–] UpperBroccoli@feddit.de 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Really? When I tried it, it was buggy as hell. Sure, in the official version, you can't walk around the subway, but there are people in it, and you can look out the window, and it tells you what station is next and all that. Actually pretty chill.

Haven't had much problems with bugs, probably depends which version(s) you've tried. As for the rest, maybe I should look for some videos to see for myself. Is there radio on the official one?

I bought the game about 6 months ago, and it failed to grab my attention. Ran great on my pc, super fast load times, graphics look good on triple wide too, and only came across one bug that I can remember, so guess I'm lucky. Maybe I should re-try it.

I have 100 hours in the game, I only have a few more achievements to do and then Im going to complete the game. In usually not a completionist like that, but I got really hooked on this one

It's one of the very few games I've finished thrice. It just really grabbed me.

It was a bit difficult for me to jump back into for some reason but I stuck with it and got addicted for a few weeks.

I was heavy into it when it first came out (playing on my PC) and then fell off and then came back for the 2.0/Phantom Liberty DLC but couldn’t get into it for some reason. Then I came back a short time later and stuck with it and it grew on me again.

Maybe same for you?

2.0 massively rebalanced shit, so if you played in a different way on your return that might also explain it

I played 1.0 as a hacker wizard man with 0 combat skills at all, but that's a LOT harder (and, worse, annoying) as of 2.0, so I had to rework my character to find the fun

Playing it currently. Got about 50 hours in it.

  • The graphics and environment are amazing, with incredible detail.

  • I absolutely loathe bloated inventory management and complex character-building, and this has that in spades, but I've ignored it almost completely, meaning they could have easily just left it out altogether and been fine. There are lots of different types of weapons but rarely were any of them "better" than the other.

  • The content is seemingly endless. Like I've got 50 hours and still dozens of side quests left.

  • It's very story-heavy. I don't care for that particularly. Just want to shoot things and blow them up 90% of the time but this is like 50% story and cutscenes. Story is decent.

  • Before the last missions and after you beat the game, your "default" mission is always the same last main quest, which is super annoying. Was hoping after I beat it, it would at least disappear from my "journal" but it just drops me back into my last checkpoint and lives at the top permanently.

  • Glitches are fairly common but not a huge problem. My bike once spawned in the middle of some traffic fences. I got permanently stuck behind a building sign one time. My car would occasionally just get yeeted a thousand feet into the air for no reason. Somewhat frequent frame drops and 2 complete crashes.

  • I am by no means a "skilled" gamer and the normal difficulty was far too easy. Only character that ever challenged me was literally the last guy in the main story quest. And I only died once.

Conclusion: def not GOTY contender for me but well worth $30 I paid.

Same here. It ran well, but somehow the gameplay was a tad shallow and it didn't make me play twice.

I probably enjoyed more the introduction than the game overall.

I bought it on launch and it never caught me. I gave it a shot. tried again with my new PC running it in 4k and man did it look beautiful, but I just couldn't do it. I think I should just restart and commit to it

Really like this game. I am not a completionist, but I believe I have done all the endings including the DLC. Got nearly 300 hours in. Has it been buggy? Yes. But that was mostly resolved to a playable state a couple/few months after release.

Hope to see something in the same universe in the future.

Now release the complete edition and give it a 50% discount so I can finally play this game

[–] gnuplusmatt@reddthat.com 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)

finally started playing through the base game recently, about 30 hrs in trying to get everything done before I go to the final mission. Will the DLC be worth it?

I felt strange a similarity between the DLC and Fallout 3 DLC

[–] PhAzE@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I just went through it a month or two ago, and was super surprised at how short it was. Not that it's bad to be semi short in an open world game, but it was a one and done thing for me. Witcher 3 for comparison lasted me 200 hours, but this game was less than 60.

[–] Xatolos@reddthat.com 2 points 3 months ago (2 children)

That's not necessarily a bad thing. Just because a game can be that long, doesn't make it better.

Think of it this way, Chrono Trigger is still considered one of the best RPGs of all time. How long does it take to finish? 23 hours.

A great game can be short and still be great.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 2 points 3 months ago

I thought I remembered it taking far longer than that when I played it many years ago.

[–] PhAzE@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 months ago

Yep, that's why I said it's not a bad thing to be short in my comment. It feels right, like it doesn't force you to stick around too long.
