I’m looking for a magician named “Gob”?

Best I can do is George Oscar Bluth Sr., or maybe his twin I can’t tell.

Gobstoppers... The thing Slugworth wants to steal from Willy Wonka?

Gobstoppers are a real candy that you can buy (they're alright, but kind of annoying if you want to use your mouth for anything else in the next half-hour), the movie didn't invent them. What they invented was the "everlasting" gobstopper.

I always knew those candies as jawbreakers (should be self-explanatory based on the above description) so it might be also be a regional/generational thing

[–] Eagle0600@yiffit.net 1 points 8 months ago

Of course it's a regional thing.

[–] gibmiser@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Why do you think it was so important he made them everlasting?

[–] VaultBoyNewVegas@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

Except that wasn't slugworth in the movie. It was a guy working for Willy Wonka who was testing the kids to see if they'd betray him/could be trusted with the factory.

[–] einlander@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago
