It's almost as funny as that old timey comic about our 20th president, "Garfield." The president who loved lasagna and would often exclaim "I hate Mondays!"

Relevant apocryphal story which may or may not have involved former US President Calvin Coolidge.

Given the time period depicted in the comic, I'd say the artist knew about it.
